174 / 3.34 GPA - Any chance at Georgetown?

Hey all, long time lurker, relatively new poster. I'm kind of on the fence as to whether I've got a shot at G-town, but I'm hoping some additional voices can give me a better perspective:

- I'm applying to the Part-time program, early decision
- My first LSAT score (October 2011) was 169, my December 2011 retake is 174
- My GPA from American University is 3.34, with an upwards trend at the senior year, University Honors, president of Debate Society, and completed undergrad in 3 years
- I've been working for 5 years in an electronic discovery legal consulting firm, and want to go into academia on the E-discovery field
- Other softs/lack thereof: Eagle Scout/Boy Scout Leader, not a URM

I think I've got a strong application, but if there's anyone else who's applied/been accepted/attended G-town or other schools in the DC area, I'd greatly appreciate your input as if I don't hear back I'll need to gauge my other options in the area!

thanks muchly in advance folks?

Also: If I have a strong enough shot, is it worth NOT applying ED in the hopes of getting some $ ?

If you're applying early next year, strong shot. If you're applying this cycle, weakish.

Absolutely have a chance. I got in (albeit only weeks before school started) with both a GPA and LSAT that are lower than your numbers. It's a personal decision regarding whether the application fee is worth it to you given your likelihood, but on the question of whether you have a chance, the answer is yes.

Definitely have a chance, although obviously applying late will diminish it somewhat. FWIW, I have a 3.3ish and a 173 and I was accepted to Georgetown, Michigan (w/ $$) and NYU among others, so you may be selling yourself short. Granted, I applied in October, but if you don't get in this cycle, might be worth applying early next cycle.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you do?

It seems that GULC cares a lot about numbers, especially LSAT scores, so even with a lower than median GPA, you still have a really good shot. If it helps, I got accepted with 3.7/169.

Good chance, but you should aim higher. Think N + MVP + DC, unless you're into Gov't/IP.

Yeah, this. You'd probably be in at MVP (at least with ED).
