Cornell or Gerogetown? (3.7, 173 retake)

Postby hypothalamus » Thu Dec 22, 2011 11:51 am

I already applied to 7 of the top 10 law schools (minus the California ones and UVA basically), but I'm trying to decide where to send my last application this cycle. I know I'm applying kind of late, which is why I will take a chance and not apply below T14 - I will do that next year if things don't go well now.

Should my last application be to Cornell or Georgetown? I'm particularly interested in (and, I hope, qualified for) the Global Law Scholars program, but I get a sense that Cornell is more likely to give decent scholarships. I may be wrong, but what does everyone think?

The reason I'm not applying to both is that Cornell denied my fee waiver request, so it's not really possible for me to apply to two additional schools at this time. Times are rough :D

"You don't have permission to access /clearinghouse/ on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

Can I please get a paste of the information on these pages? My computer is being silly.

And Cornell because I do like the school... But I liked Georgetown too...

Cornell could offer you a scholarship that gives you more potential leverage than any other school you apply to.

Ask a friend or two for the money and apply to both. You can pay them back later.

Wait a year, apply early, and get into better schools.

Temporary Saint, I was kind of thinking the same with regards to applying to more schools... I would have a better shot at a scholarship from Cornell if I applied next year (assuming this cycle doesn't go as I would like it to go).

I think I had an RC fail there. Did you apply to every school late or is this just specific to GULC/Cornell? Cornell is also pretty stingy with money.

Take a year off. Retake and ED to UVA.

I applied to every school a few days ago, so yes late :D
Given the lateness of my apps to schools in which I'm less interested , I figure I can just hope for the best at my top choices and apply to the rest next year, if needed.

Don't go to Cornell or GULC. Unless you have fee waivers, don't even apply and save yourself money. You have T6 numbers. Taking a year off is a great decision. I was in the same position last year. I was either going to apply late or just wait a year. I've been able to have a lot of fun before law school, make money to pay off a bunch of tuition, and got into a T6 school. One of the best decisions I've made.
