3.85/173/PhD in Political Science - chances at T5?

Post by spirals » Tue Nov 29, 2011 5:44 pm

Undergrad GPA: 3.85 (top 20 US university)
LSAT: 173

I just finished a PhD in Political Science from a top 10 program. I can substantively justify the need for a law degree, in terms of my research agenda and career goals. I don't want to be more specific than that, for fear of "outing" myself.

What are my chances at a top 5 law school? Will the PhD be considered a helpful "soft" factor?

Thanks!

Your chances are good regardless; the PhD is the icing on the cake. Congrats.

I bet you are a smart and interesting dude. I hope you are my classmate in the future. BTW not in at a Top 5 school but rivaling Tebow in terms of daily prayer.

Thanks for the replies. I'm actually a girl (I took from the fact that you called me a dude that you think I'm a guy, but I could be wrong :)).

But thanks for the votes of confidence ... they make me feel a little better about my chances.

Flame. If you have really have a PhD then you have enough research experience to find out on your own that someone with your stats is a virtual lock at the t6; you would have also done enough research to know that there is no such thing as a t5 designation.

It Depends
