slightly above one median, slightly below another; target?

Post by gaud » Wed Nov 23, 2011 3:20 pm

If I am slightly above one median and slightly below another... how should I be gauging my chances at the school?

(target? reach? safety?)

thanks

I would say target, but I think it also depends which median and how much slightly below is. (Is slightly below 1 LSAT point vs. 2 LSAT points, .05 GPA or .2 GPA, etc.)

Why does it matter which of those words you use to label it?

This.

Also, I don't even know the medians of any of the schools I've applied to. Why would it matter when you can just go to lawschoolnumbers.com? That tells you much more about how decisions are made than the medians will.

fair enough.. would you still consider it to be a target if slightly above GPA median (< .07) and a point or two below the LSAT median?

i'm hesitant to consider the school a target due to not being above the LSAT median (to me it seems that being above the LSAT median is 'stronger'

It doesn't REALLY matter, I agree. More or less, I want to know how others would feel if they were in my situation

Eh....I think it would differ by school. I also think there's a big difference between 1 LSAT point and 2 LSAT points. You could gather whether GPA vs. LSAT would be more beneficial by looking at LSN.
