Case Western?

Am I aiming too low, or am I right on target for my stats?

If you aren't a resident of NC (even if you are) I wouldn't even bother wasting my money on the UNC application.

You're wasting a decent GPA on a terrible LSAT score. Have you thought about retaking?

Quite frankly I believe you are aiming too high. Catholic and SJU are possibilities, but you are at or below the 25th percentile for the LSAT at every school on this list and your GPA is around the median. The prevailing advice will be simple: retake.

ETA: even if you did get into Catholic or SJU, nobody on here will tell you to attend either, even with a significant scholarship (which you won't get anyway with your numbers).

I figured that about UNC, but I still thought I'd see what you guys had to say.

I took the LSAT in June 2011 and October 2011 and got the exact same score despite taking a prep course in between (maybe test day jitters?) so a retake is not an option at this point. I am planning on applying to Syracuse, LSU, Marquette, and Michigan State also, but I just wanted to see what people thought about some of the stretch schools I was considering. Thank you guys for the advice and thoughts!

About 45,000 law students, less than 30,000 entry level legal jobs. Of those, many not full time and/or don't pay enough to service the debt you will incur.

If you are not from or have spent significant time in these states, it's not worth going. The degree doesn't travel, but local employers are still suspicious of you because you're not from the state. Bad combo.

I'd guess some of those other schools might have the same effect, but I know most about the problem at these 2 schools.

Keep in mind that most the the stats there are from 2009, one of the best hiring years EVER.

Bascially, the employment data schools give you is a lie. They only report the students who are employed, and don't include the data from students who are unemployed.

It is BAD. There are many, many students graduating from schools ranked in the top 20 who are unemployed. Visit the web site and look at the data for yourself.

I don't know about the rest but UNC waitlisted me with my first LSAT of 156. I had a 4.0 and was a NC resident.
