3.8 162 UNC, WAKE, W&M, EMORY etc.

Postby kderian » Wed Nov 09, 2011 3:17 pm

Finishing up my applications before Thanksgiving...wondering what my chances are?

3.8 GPA , 162 LSAT, one year exp. working in law office...other good softs.

Wake Forest
UNC Chapel Hill *in-state
Emory
William and Mary
George Washington
Notre Dame *is this a good school if I want to practice in the Southeast?

I was hoping to apply to Cornell but I think my stats are too low for any T14..... Agree?

Hoping to get scholarships??

Would you go to Emory or UNC Chapel Hill assuming I got into both- but have in-state tuition @ UNC

Any input gives me great perspective, thank you in advance.

I had similar numbers and was in at Wake with money and in at UNC (also in state.) Do you want to stay in NC or just in the Southeast?

Did you choose Wake or UNC? It depends on the job, practicing in NC would be ideal, as would Atlanta, DC..etc.

I wonder what the best option would be if I got money from Wake to make it comparable to UNC's tuition?

Say I got into both and they cost the same? What would you choose?

I know UNC is ranked higher, however I am from the Wake Forest area and would feel very confident connecting with this community and wonder if the smaller class size would allow me to stand out more?

Also my significant other has a very solid career in the Wake Forest area...(cost of living would be a lot less for us)

No difference b/w Wake and UNC, except the tuition. If you don't get a schol from Wake, (which you should), I would take the in-state tuition at UNC which is fantastically cheap. Basically, if you wanna stay in NC, go to law school in NC.

Also, no, ND/GW are not particularly strong in the SE. You have a good shot of getting in but they have comparatively little pull in NC/GA vs. Emory/Wake/UNC/UGA

That is good to know. I am crossing my fingers for a scholarship from Wake but you never know? If anyone has been offered money from Wake-what were your stats?
