Top Law Schools

3.77 LSDAS GPA and 155, 158, 162 LSAT.
5+ years work experience in IT field
decent softs - honor societies, leadership etc

Taken 3 times already so obviously retake isn't an option. Looking to see how I would fare at Colorado and also where I could get some serious money like possibly U Denver. Any suggestions would be great.

its at least a 50/50 shot at CU-B. Maybe better. I had same LSAT and slightly better GPA and got in a couple of years ago. Good luck!

What do you think of applying Early Decision to Colorado? The fact that they allow in-state tuition after one year means potentially paying sticker isn't quite as bad as other schools. Colorado is my #1 choice and this would increase my chances, wouldn't it?

Yes but you'll probs get in anyway. Do they give aid to ED ppl?

I'm not sure if they do or not. Logic tells me they wouldn't. I probably won't apply ED, I'm just a bit nervous about my app. On a similar note: Is anybody familiar with Colorado's Personal Statement. My statement is more of a diversity background statement and I'm a bit worried it doesn't hit the mark of what they are looking for. Will this affect my chances? Anybody got any advice?

In addition, please explain your reasons for applying to law school. Your essay should be double-spaced and not exceed 1,000 words.

Sounds like your personal statement explains how you contribute to their goal of "diversity." I have no personal knowledge of this though.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I was thinking. Does that mean it would be prudent to apply Early Decision if this is my choice school? As I mentioned earlier, after one year I can get in-state tuition so the sticker price isn't quite so bad.

I'm just a -1L (applying next cycle), but if I was looking at that chart and knew 100% that UC-B is what I wanted, I would have to ED to give myself every opportunity.

I don't mean to be a downer, but I'd guess you are more likely to be rejected than accepted. With three LSAT scores so closely grouped together, they'll probably evaluate you around a 158/159. You'd totally expect a few points better with each administration just due to familiarity with the exam. According to the LSAC Official guide, they had 142 people apply with 155-159 LSAT with GPA > 3.75, of which only 29 were accepted. You are at/just above the 75% GPA for last year and at/just above the 25% LSAT if you use your highest LSAT, and below it if you use the average. I would apply, but I wouldn't count on getting in.

Your 162 LSAT score is one point above the 25% LSAT for the last two classes although below the median LSAT of 164 & your GPA of 3.77 exceeds the median GPA of 3.64. To me, this suggests that your essays & recommendations will come into play.

All this makes me lean more towards applying ED. However, with the economy the way it is, everybody seems to be vehemently opposed to paying sticker. I really love Colorado and would love to attend school there, but I also want to make the smartest decision for my future. There is always Denver U, where I would get $$$. I suppose this has become a conversation for the "Choosing a school" forum.

That seems like a plan, people with more experience in CO can help you out. You should check out here: --LinkRemoved-- knowing that it's almost certain that the people not reporting salary are making less than the median wage, and that many of them might be working jobs that don't require a JD. According to --LinkRemoved-- for non-rez it's about $56,000 a year, for rez $49,000 (with CoL). That's $154,000 if you get rez tuition the last two years, definitely something to be aware of...

If you're worried about getting in, your chances for getting money at all are pretty slim, even with RD.

Also, don't make a post in that forum until you've actually got some acceptances to choose between, lol.

At Colorado, my chances at money are slim for sure. But other places I could get some substantial money, like Denver U or other ~50 rank range schools. At least I would think/hope so. I don't want to sacrifice a great financial opportunity elsewhere because I ED'd to Colorado. (even though I would love to go there, I realize the debt would be a real problem)

And I guess you're right, haha! I'm past ready to jump the gun!!
