I honestly just don't have the time. I'll be abroad next semester in Rome so studying for February and June are not options. October is not an option either since I'm trying to get an internship and will be working in school, as well as doing heavy research for a thesis.keg411 wrote:OP, you're only a junior? Why not hire a private tutor and re-take in Feb or June? If you go to the tutor and it doesn't seem to be helping, then withdraw from the test before the deadline and apply with your 164. I see not reason not to give it a try, just to get YHS within your reach.jlevin6591 wrote:Hopefully, its another factor that will help me along. Thanks!
My other issue with this is that I'm a junior so idk if the stats will become harder as the year goes on till its time for me to submit my apps. My plan is to send them out on the days they come out.

Find the time. Skip the internship.jlevin6591 wrote:

I read an article that when you are calculating your LSDAS GPA, if your school doesn't distinguish between an A and an A+, they count the A's as A+'s. That's how I got 4.33.ersh1428 wrote:How is your GPA a 4.33?? Rutgers doesn't offer A+ at all, so the highest it could be is 4.0.

Wishful thinking, but not true. I know it's an unfair system, but it's not a big deal. Once you're above the schools 75th percentile, it makes little difference if you have a 3.99 or a 4.09jlevin6591 wrote:I read an article that when you are calculating your LSDAS GPA, if your school doesn't distinguish between an A and an A+, they count the A's as A+'s. 3.9 v 4.3 will not matter nearly as much as 164 v 168.

Sorry to break it to you, but you don't have a 4.33. You have a 4.0, which is still excellent, make no mistake. But you're going to have a tough time in the T14. I also had a 4.0 from Rutgers, 167. I got big money at GW, but got shut out of the T14 (although I only applied in the northeast, and didn't apply early anywhere), so I cant imagine that a 164 is going to fare any better even with an ED.
Good luck to you though.

So only people who go to schools who give out A+'s are capable of getting a 4.33? That stinks.ersh1428 wrote:Sorry to break it to you, but you don't have a 4.33. Thanks for the information, though. I feel like a fool.

I really do apologize to everyone. I was posting under a completely different impression as far as the GPA is concerned because of what I had heard from others; I was not trying to mislead anyone.

No need to apologize dude. You made a simple mistake based on faulty information. It happens. Best of luck to you throughout this whole, sometimes harrowing process.jlevin6591 wrote:I really do apologize to everyone. TITCR. Man, it's heartbreaking to see you with that GPA and a 164. If only we were one person...with your 4.0 and my 176 we'd be Yale secure (I have a shit GPA)keg411 wrote:OP, you're only a junior? Yeah, wouldn't that be nice? I feel thought that your LSAT will help you a lot more than my GPA will. It definitely counts for more.crumpetsandtea wrote:TITCR. I honestly think re-taking would just not help me improve enough to warrant the re-take. Especially because I wouldn't want to go downward or stay the same.

I don't know, I think we both have T14s who like our respective higher #...I'd look at Duke, Penn, Cornell, and Boalt out of the T14 if I were you. Above all else, maintain your GPA.jlevin6591 wrote:Yeah, wouldn't that be nice? I feel thought that your LSAT will help you a lot more than my GPA will. It definitely counts for more.

I would really want to ED to Penn, but I don't know how realistic that would be. I will definitely be trying Boalt as well.
How about you?
Also, does anyone know if law schools would see if you ED somewhere else?

Re: 164 LSAT/ 4.33 GPA-What's Realistic?
Law schools don't know if you ED to another school (I'm assuming you mean law schools that you're RD at--DO NOT ED to multiple schools lol). I'm ED-ing to NU, but expecting to get placed on the RD list now that their ED policy comes with a guaranteed near-full scholarship. I'm also targeting UVa, GULC, and UMich, but not expecting anything better than a R/WL from them.jlevin6591 wrote:Yeah, that's what I'm planning to do. Can't lose it at this point haha.

As for your shot at Penn...check out http://lawschoolnumbers.com/HeavenWood/jd and http://lawschoolnumbers.com/sunflowergirl/jd from this past cycle, who both got in with a 166/3.9 and 163/4.0 respectively. Heavenwood is a poster here as well, and posts quite regularly, so you might want to PM him for more info on his cycle.
It does look like you have an outside shot at Penn with ED, but otherwise most likely you'll be WL-ed. Here's the graphs for last year and the year before's cycles on LSN:

No problem! I recommend creating an account on that website and doing a search for people with 3.8+ GPAs and <165 LSATs, and then following their cycles. It should give you a better idea of what you should shoot for next year!jlevin6591 wrote:Thanks so much for the info! I appreciate it!

Re: 164 LSAT/ 4.33 GPA-What's Realistic?
Apparently, I must have. I could have sworn that that's what the page was saying. Of course, I can't find it now, but regardless, the reason I thought it made sense was it was a way of leveling the playing field between those schools who do offer students A+s and those who don't. I realize that that is not the case.HYPSM wrote:I'm really sorry, but that is literally one of the most stupid things I've ever heard.jlevin6591 wrote:I read an article that when you are calculating your LSDAS GPA, if your school doesn't distinguish between an A and an A+, they count the A's as A+'s. I mean c'mon now. "If your school(Rutgers) doesn't give A+'s, your A automatically counts as an A+!!!" That just doesn't make any sense.
I think you misread.
I also think you're going to Boalt.
Well, at this point, I can only hope that a school like Boalt would take me.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
