I scored quite a bit lower on the october test than I had been p-ting.
I had my heart set on Harvard, Stanford or Columbia but that looks like less of an option now.
What are my chances now?
What about Penn/Boalt/Chicago?
I go to an Ivy and would be coming straight out of undergrad with strong ecs and research experience
Should I retake the LSAT? I know im capable of much better, i was consistently pt-ing around 175 and kind of freaked out on the first section during the actual test. But I'm worried that with averaging i won't get much more than a 2 or 3 point increase.
I'm new at all of this and any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Of course you should retake. An increase of "only" 2 points could mean 75K or more in scholarship money. A strong performance makes Harvard an option, and any improvement makes Columbia likely.

Harvard/Columbia/Chicago are already options. You should be in at Penn. Boalt is more finicky, but you're above both medians anyway. Don't retake unless you're sure you will do better.Tiago Splitter wrote:Of course you should retake. An increase of "only" 2 points could mean 75K or more in scholarship money. Hey viacavour, I'm also new to TLS and I actually have numbers pretty similar to yours (3.75/169). The links posted above lead to a site which has proven to be extremely helpful with my information gathering process, and I'm sure it would be useful for you too!
But I digress; based on the numbers contained therein, it looks like your current numbers would be strong enough for admission to both Boalt and Penn (you're above their 2011 cycle medians for both LSAT & GPA), and you split at UChi -- over on GPA, under on LSAT.
Harvard, Stanford and Columbia would all be reaches for you at this point, and Harvard would probably auto-ding you as both of your numbers are below their median. Out of the three, Columbia would be your best bet IMO, especially if you retake and are able to hit 173 or higher.
If you have any other questions feel free to PM me or just quote me on this thread.
Best of luck!
