LSAT 175, GPA 3.55, Softs average.

Is it smart to ED at Columbia? I wouldn't want to do it if I could get into HS or if I was likely to get into Columbia anyway. Any help would be great!

If you love Columbia and can manage to go there at sticker, I think it is a great idea.

Your GPA will almost certainly keep you out of H and S. According to their LSN page, Columbia accepts most all 175s who have a GPA above 3.4. So, yeah, ED to Columbia if you like the school.

Wouldn't that indicate that he doesn't need to ED and can RD?

^ "Most" was the operative term in that sentence. If Columbia is the OPs top choice, he should be extra safe and ED (because he has virtually no shot at H and even less of a chance at S, barring some URM status or superlative ECs of which we are unaware).

Yeah, I'm not a URM so Columbia is probably my best shot. Does applying ED preclude you from getting any kind of money from schools?

The general consensus is that yes, EDing does hurt your chances at scholly money (though it certainly doesn't preclude you from getting any). But that's not really an issue for you with respect to Columbia, since they almost never give splitters money anyway.
