Re: 171 LSAT 4.0 GPA
It's interesting how people with great numbers are often the ones to doubt/second-guess themselves a ton. Whereas I have a bunch of friends/acquaintances from UG who are going to TT and TTT schools without a doubt, without worrying at all. On the other hand people with 170+ and 3.8+ are frequently nervous about their future on this board. Sigh.

The higher your expectations are, the more paranoid you'll be that you'll fall short...we have a LOT more to lose.freestallion wrote:It's interesting how people with great numbers are often the ones to doubt/second-guess themselves a ton. See thread: Warning to 0L's, where there's talk of anything under the median being on the bubble. Yes they're super extremist, but there seems to be a lot of them.

I forgot to ask before, but do you think if one of my top choices is at the same University where I attended undergrad, there might be a slight boost for me?

It depends. When applicants are at the margins, some schools seem to prefer their own. Others go out of their way to reject their own. Most don't care though. It's all about the numbas.DoubleChecks wrote:if that undergrad is Harvardvincentgambini wrote:I forgot to ask before, but do you think if one of my top choices is at the same University where I attended undergrad, there might be a slight boost for me?

no idea on other schools, but HLS is notorious for being very pro-H ugradHeavenWood wrote:It depends. When applicants are at the margins, some schools seem to prefer their own. I want to echo the don't ED advice. I think you're a bit paranoid about what might happen, but I honestly think that you'll be pleasantly surprised by how well your cycle turns out if you RD.

I'm definitely swayed by the consensus here... pretty much convinced RD will be the way to go.
I might as well reveal a little more about myself, anyone hear how Columbia treats its own? I'm guessing not great, but just wondering if anyone had any more insight.

Check the class roster. If there are an unusual number of Columbia UG alums, at the very least, it means they don't discriminate.vincentgambini wrote:I'm definitely swayed by the consensus here... pretty much convinced RD will be the way to go.

There seems to be a decent number of Columbia UGs here but many more Cornell and Yale UG.
