Yay for a response. So 165 would be the cut off for those schools in your opinion?

I'd like to stay in CA.

Paralegals at decent firms make more than most lawyers. Stick with this job.

Retake. I'm sure if you put in the extra study time you'd do a lot better and open up your options. Good luck!

And they make a lot more than unemployed/underemployed lawyers. Plus, you'll get much better benefits than the many lawyers from these schools that are doing temp work/doc review, for instance.

Your GPA will be a tough sell. Your WE will help, and I imagine it will also help you get a job. As a URM, your cycle will be unpredictable, but retaking is the best answer for you. Even if you were to graduate without debt, you'd still be looking at 3 years in opportunity cost and no guarantee at better employment than you have now, especially with those schools.

Your GPA is going to really hurt you. If you are making decent money now think about staying put since the oppurtunity cost of law school + tuition may outweigh the job prospects of anywhere you can get into on the West Coast with a 2.4; this will likley be true regardless of the male AA bump. But, if you were to retake and could somehow get into USC or UCLA...those could be viable options.

Thanks to everyone for their responses. I'm definitely going to retake. Shooting for the highest score possible.
