I was referring to the fact that I only heard back from 1/4 schools, and therefore essentially couldn't choose between comparable schools/financial aid. Just hoping that OP will have more options with more schools and possible scholarship money.

I feel you.

But still, you got into HARVARD! lol

Lol...trust me I am immensely grateful. But still kinda wish I would have been able to choose if only to compare financial aid options, especially since I've heard SLS can be a bit more "generous" and I don't exactly have billions to spend....

Anyway, didn't mean to hijack this thread! Best of luck OP and keep me updated! I'll be rooting for you! :D

No worries! I think it's better that you only got into H... makes your decision easier! Haha thank you kindly! I will definitely keep you updated (assuming you still check LSN/TLS when you're knee-deep in your studies at Harvard.) :)

That's the beauty of deferring. ;)

Do any non-URM Hispanics have success stories at HYS they want to share? Or anyone else have predictions at my chances at HYS? Thanks guys!

I know a non-URM who go into H&S with a 4.0 171. This was in 07 and I don't know how much that 1 LSAT point will mean...but I would think you've got a decent shot at those two.

Harvard yes, maybe Stanford. Yale is a toss up. HYS all a toss-up, probably best chance at S, given that you have decent softs. Columbia in without question.

Edit: Sorry I misread "non-URM" as "URM." agh.

Actually, I believe my index number for Harvard is the same as a 4.0 and 171... so it's good to hear that someone got in with those stats a few years ago! I also saw on LSN that a few people got in this year with 171s... although a lot of them went to Ivy leagues so maybe that helped them.

Haha nice. No worries.

Also, I wonder if there is any advantage to applying in September v October, or are both considered early? Like if I applied September 1st, would that really be any different than October 1st?

You'd be fine with either, no real difference. Oct 1 is still fucking early.

I applied in mid-November after I got my October LSAT score. Apply as early as you can, but it's not the end of the world if you don't submit everything by the beginning of October. If you're confident about your LSAT score/you already have a LSAT score, you have more flexibility to apply as early as you want. I tend to think applying any time before Christmas = early enough. And to be honest, sometimes applying early won't "help" as much if you get held because in that case you're essentially being compared to later applicants. But yeah, better safe than sorry I suppose.

Would H dock me for being one point below their LSAT 25% or do they only consider the index number? Thanks!

And is there a chance that Harvard's LSAT 25% will drop to 170 next year with the drop of applications? LOL

I think you have pretty good chances if Harvard is your top choice... JR does seem to be emphasizing GPA a little more recently which helps you out.

By top public which school are you referring to tho? I think there is actually a greater consideration for high GPA's from competitive schools (beyond just HYPS etc.) so that might boost your chances a bit too.

Yay JR! I'll have to thank him personally if he invites me for a JR1 :)

U.C. Berkeley! :) Really? I always thought Ivy leagues hated us public schoolers haha

Haha I was guessing UC Berkeley... Yep that def will give you a small boost. I'd say coming from Berkeley a regular 4.06/170 applicant probably has a 50% or better shot.

I believe Confused7 got 80 grand in loans, not a scholarship. HYS don't give merit scholarships.
