3.15 GPA, 170 LSAT
Hey guys,
BTW, I did try http://www.lawschoolpredictor.com and got a basic idea of my chances.
But was wondering if there was any hope for the top 20ish schools with my additional stats and your own personal experiences.
(Also has anyone ever submitted a GWU application with out a LOR and been accepted? Apparently LOR is not required)
*undergrad GPA: 3.15, Masters GPA (3.3 - yes it's low)
*LSAT: 170
*Lots of clinically related volunteer and research experience (was a pre-med before)
*Work experience in journalism, scientific laboratory, tutoring during college. Little work experience after college and grad school. (This is the point where I am at right now).
And any suggestions as to how I can strengthen my app/stats?
Thank you for all your help!

best advice would be to write optional essays for every school you are interested in- refine your personal statement until it is flawless and send in your application on the first day you can. Use the time to get solid LORs and add them.

@northwood, is there any advantage to sending in apps the first day, say, sept 1st, if you plan to retake the lsat in oct or dec?

(pure speculation as i'm still a 0L and my cycle hasn't ended)
I'd guess that with a lower end gpa like that a slight increase in your lsat score wouldn't make too much of a difference. I think the best way to strengthen your app would be to get a couple years of good work experience under your belt which would give you some distance from the gpa.

The earlier you send in the applicaiton the earlier the admissions comittee can review it. They wont review it if you have a pending lsat score- but once they get them they will review it and make a decision. some schools will review everything but the lsat while others wont touch it until its fully complete. All you are doing is making sure that you are one of the first in the october or december test taking groups to be put in review. October is still early enough so you dont have to do this. but if you are going to take the decemebr test then sending them in earlier ( and letting them know you are taking the test later) is a good idea.

For the t20 your only shots are
UVA (Reasonable shot with ED)
NU (same)
GULC (Very outside chance)
WUSTL (In with $$)
GW (Probably in)
Any extra points on the LSAT will help with UVA, NU and GULC.

ED UVA on the first day it comes out. If not, you have a shot at GULC I would think...big money at WUSTL.
