want 2 go 2 havard low gpa plz help
Okay, so that was a joke. My situation is not that dire. I have a 3.1, am still in school, and have gotten A's in tough classes in my last few semesters. I now have enough credits to graduate, but would like to stay in school. My question: How bad does it look to admissions to have a million credits on your transcript? I transferred schools once, took a year off to teach English in a foreign country, changed majors several times, and generally have a goofy looking transcript. Now, after six years, I feel like I've really hit my rhythm. Moreover, the job market sucks and it feels a little better being a bartender who is in school then just a bartender.
I'd like to go to a law school where I actually have a reasonable chance of practicing law afterward. Anything in the top 100 would be fantastic. How are my chances? Any advice?

Well, law schools just look at your gpa, so whatever you said should be fine. Get at least 160+ on LSAT for top 100. But then regional schools > rankings after te T14 or so.

So I can just stick around in undergrad, get my GPA up, and things will be OK? Somebody please confirm this. I've psyched myself out to the point where it seems unbelievable.

Pretty much.
the only reason they care about your gpa is so they can report to usnwr. They don't care how you got it. at all.
That being said, I wouldn't reccomend apply to law school with out a 163/164, if your gonna end up with a 3.1 or 3.2.
Also:
1. The fact that you are fine with any school in the top 100 means you have done NO research, and you should not spend extra years in college only to make a horrible mistake.
2. This is all worthless with out a lsat. If you got a 170 and had a 3.1, you'd nbe able to get into some of the best schools in the nation.
3. Troll???
4. Profit.

I will have well over 200 credits when I finish and I got into a T-14.
Hope that helps.
Oh, and 3.1 +151 = TTT
Hope that also helps.
*Edit: Actually, 3.1 + 151 = TTTT

I consider it a gift when I get a client who is eligible, but who has not yet graduated. You should take advantage of the opportunity to raise your GPA prior to graduation. LSAC will calculate an A+ as a 4.33, even if your school has only a 4.0 scale. Getting a string of A-pluses, even in easy courses, will make a big difference. You can read more in our blog post: --LinkRemoved--
Ratchet up your GPA, rock the LSAT, and you'll be set for life. Good luck!

If OP already has 120 credits, significantly raising the gpa to a good GPA is going to be hard as fuck.
OP will need 60 credits of A+ and nothing lower just to get a 3.5. Which is still low for law school.
Op would be better off getting a job and gunning the LSAT hardcore.

If you're working as a bartender I assume your family is not paying for your school. I honestly don't think your options are good if you expect anything under the high 160s. Why do you want to be a lawyer?

A 3.1 isn't the end of the world by any means. With a good LSAT score, you can get into a T1.

Re: want 2 go 2 havard low gpa plz help
How long would it take for you to change your gpa more than .1? With 200 credits or whatever, it seems like it would take a year to move up just a little. ((200 * 3.1) + (30 * 4.0) / 230) = 3.217. I would say that the difference between the two isn't worth the time or money. The difference between a 2.9 and a 3.0 is significant to many law schools. The difference between a 3.1 and a 3.2 is not (many top schools have a floor).
My advice is to get a year or two of work experience, study for the LSAT for about six months starting now. Take it in October and if the score is above 160, you can go ahead and go to school. If not, repeat this method.

Thank you all for your insight and comments. When I transferred my GPA didn't, so I'm technically a senior but only have something like 70 institutional credits that count towards my GPA, currently at the crummy 3.1. I could pretty easily get that up.
I've just signed up for an online course on the Contemporary History of the Paper Airplane. l will see you all in a year with my 3.8 and shitty LSAT score (kidding! hopefully).
Any more comments or tips would be greatly appreciated.

LSAC counts ALL credits for your GPA.

My old GPA isn't showing up on my transcript. I'm not even sure if my new school knows about it. HOW WILL LSAC KNOW? NOOOOOOOOOO. MY DREAMS HAVE BEEN CRUSHED!! Am I doomed? Will only the LSAT save me?

Not so much. Getting it up to even a 3.3 will make a very big difference.
OP: Try plugging in number combos on lawschoolpredictor. And -- this is very important -- get a grade transcript from your UG and see what GPA LSAC would report. Here's how they compute your GPA:http://lsac.org/policies/transcript-summarization.asp.

From LSAC's website:
"LSAC calculates a GPA for each year and a cumulative GPA for each undergraduate institution that issued a transcript for you. A cumulative GPA that includes all undergraduate work is also calculated and reported. A cumulative GPA for a school within an institution cannot be calculated."
God damnit.

These two sentences should not be together. Incredibly misleading unless you want to practice shitlaw.
