LSAT for Cornell?

Post by Easy-E » Mon Mar 14, 2011 11:33 am

This is a far-reach I think, but with a 3.4 GPA is there any LSAT score that would give me a shot at Cornell? I'm obviously studying with the goal of a perfect score (who isn't), but I'm trying to get an idea of what would even be realistic. FWIW, I have a strong upward trend in my grades, being on the Dean's List for two years following an obviously less-impressive first two.

I got in with a 3.49 and a 172. Apply EA, which is non-binding. I think if you get a 170+ you should be good. Still have a shot with 169.

Thats certainly good to hear. However, I'm not taking the LSAT until October. Is that too late to count me in for EA?

according to the 2012 rankings: Cornell's 25/75% are 3.55-3.8 & 166-169, which means that you better score 170+ since your GPA is below the 25%.

Since the Oct LSAT is a week early this year, I'd imagine the scores will be out early as well- last year they came out on the 29th (Oct 9th test)
Yup. You'll have plenty of time for EA at Cornell with an October test. Just make sure everything else is ready to go (fill out the application, have resume and personal statement completed). Make everything final so you can send in the app once your score comes in.

Yeah I looked at that, I'm studying for a high score (duh) but I just want to know whats realistic, whats a reach, etc. Would you have roughly equal chances at a school (any school) if you were on the upper end of average LSAT and lower end of average GPA, vs. being BELOW the school's average and ABOVE the schools average LSAT? Or is one more favorable?

Honestly I would purposefully apply after the EA deadline (so you aren't considered EA) because EA always seems to be a giant clusterfuck.

I remember glancing over something about this issue on another thread. Could you possibly elaborate?

And do you mean Cornell specifically?
