3.0/174 URM (Female)

Post by Tainted_Praise » Fri Mar 04, 2011 11:27 am

I'm thinking about taking more classes to pad my GPA...... But.... This was my third attempt... But a 174 is a 174 right? Do I have a shot at HYS? If not... Where do you think I have a shot? I'm definitely waiting to apply next cycle.

if your father is African i don't think whether or not Indian is a URM matters. but for the record i don't think it is lol

Why is this thread about race? Sigh. My father is from Ghana he is black. I assure you. My mother is from India... I think the fact that I am half is enough..... Anyhow. What are my chances?

cos some dude can't read

honestly, i don't think you have a great shot at HYS, and possibly not even CCN. high lsat/low gpa URMs do not seem to do very well, from what i've seen on LSN. i would still send the apps obviously but don't get your hopes up. you should definitely get in most everywhere else in the T14 though.

Interesting. Well what do you identify yourself as? It's about race because the type of URM you are may get you a greater boost. And it's needed because HYS are real sticklers for GPA despite your great LSAT score.

Both. But I'll probably just claim one for the sake of applications.

I'm pretty sure I know which one. But yea, sounds like you got a pretty interesting diversity factor. If you can spin it off in your favor on the PS, that will definitely help. In the meantime, get straight As.

Suppose I should start going to class more this semester. Sigh. So hard to stay motivated. So hard.

it's about race because those numbers would not get HYS, unless you were URM (even then, chances aren't great). schools are pretty strict about what they consider URM so someone tends to ask in everyone of these threads.
