Unfortunate split, 2.4/167 Forum

Non-URM, fairly strong softs including all-american attorney with the american mock trial association.

Thoughts on my chances at: W&L, William and Mary, WashU, Emory, Georgia, Tennessee, Stetson ? I recognize that most of these are considerable reaches, but I'm deferred admittance to memphis at in-state rates, so I figured some reaches were the way to go.

Pretty sure WUSTL likes anyone with a 167 or better, but I'm not sure how much the GPA will hurt.

People on here usually say anyone with a 166 can get Emory, but your GPA is pretty low.

Do you have work experience? If I were you, I'd work hard, retake the LSAT in June, score a 170+, and ED to Northwestern or UVA early next cycle.

My work experience is fairly negligible. I've had internships with my county's attorney's office and with a local civil litigation firm, but no legitimate career endeavors or anything.

Sucks being a TN resident when it comes to law school admissions - I am one as well. There only seem to be two state schools worth anything, and Memphis is borderline (UT being the other).

I don't know what to tell you, since that GPA is killer. Emory may work since you're above their 166 wall. Indiana, maybe? I've read they manipulate their medians to a ridiculous degree, so admitting you would allow them to admit a reverse splitter. Good luck.

I recommend you go to lawschoolnumbers.com and search for applicants with numbers similar to yours. Find out where they had success and what schools to avoid. Good luck!

The problem is that there are so few people with comparable numbers. Anyone have any thoughts on my chances? Given some fee waivers that just came in, the updated list of my applications is:

I have your exact numbers, but I didn't shoot very high. I wanted to stay in the Midwest so I threw apps to Illinois (W/L) and Indiana (in w/ 105k). It would have probably helped getting your apps in earlier, but hopefully you still have some luck!

Thanks for the info! I'd be very happy with Indiana and I'm hoping that the timing of my apps doesn't throw a wrench in that possibility or others.

Traditional wisdom would say that you should get into WashU and IU-B, but who knows. When did you send the applications? I applied to IU-B around Christmas last year with a 3.66/168 and had no response till I got a WL letter on about May 1 (though this might have been yield protect). I applied real late to WashU (Feb.) and got held. Still though it seems like the 167 and a fairly early app would get you into one of those. Also you probably have a decent shot at Minnesota. Here's my guesses

thanks for the response and I certainly hope that you're right =). I submitted all of them except indiana and minnesota right before christmas and the others the 2nd week of january, so unfortunately none of them are particularly early.
