Chances with LSAC 3.68 GPA in electrical engineering
Hi,
What are my chances of getting into a top 20 law school? My main choices are:
Boalt
UCLA
USC
NYU
My stats are:
GPA: 3.68 (according to LSAC, actual is slightly higher)
LSAT: 165-170 (just took it and still waiting on results. This is my estimate)
Not URM
I know my GPA isn't as high as what the top 20 schools usually take, but do you think UG major will play a big role in helping this factor? I studied Electrical Engineering/Biomedical Engineering.
I know I am applying somewhat late especially since I am still waiting for my LSAT score. I just want to get an overall feel for what my situation is. Thanks =)

With 170:
NYU - Ding
Boalt - Ding
UCLA - Prob IN
USC - IN
With 169:
NYU - Ding
Boalt - Ding
UCLA - WL
USC - IN
With 168:
UCLA - Ding
USC - In
With 167:
USC - IN
With 166
USC WL
My guesses. Disagree with above saying 170 will give a good shot at Boalt.

Why couldn't you just wait 2 weeks to make this thread? Not answering anything until you have a real score.

Here are my results from last year, EE with similar GPA and a 170. Also, I applied on the second to last day to all schools.
UCLA - IN, Attending
USC - didn't apply
NYU - OUT

I really should have a score before I post, but I was getting nervous and wanted to see what my chances are. They seem quite bleak. Also it seems like UG major doesn't do much. =(

Your major will be tie breaker not a boost.

Thanks weee! Hopefully I can land that 170. Maybe I should wait for 2015 instead to apply early.weee wrote:Here are my results from last year, EE with similar GPA and a 170. Also, I applied on the second to last day to all schools.

Doesn't matter what it's in, a 3.68 theater major = 3.68 electrical engineer.

Youre definitely in the running--your GPA is higher than mine and I was not an engineering major, and I got in right away at UCLA.

So UCLA aren't GPA whores? Hmm.

That is awesome! Congrats. Do you mind me asking what your LSAT score was though? Also when did you apply? I know UCLA doesn't do rolling admissions, but I still feel like it is getting really late in the cycle.RIPmitchhedberg wrote:Youre definitely in the running--your GPA is higher than mine and I was not an engineering major, and I got in right away at UCLA.

They're GPA whores but they pretty much have a 3.5 GPA floor not a 3.86 GPA floor.kkklick wrote:So UCLA aren't GPA whores? Hmm.
