I think you should have a few people look over your PS/resume before you apply to other schools.
How well did you know your LOR writers?

i would be shocked if my LORs were hurting me. i've only read one of the two, which was glowing, and the other professor taught me for 3 classes, and we were very friendly.plenipotentiary wrote:I think you should have a few people look over your PS/resume before you apply to other schools.

+1. This seems really out of character for UVA.rad law wrote:Something's bugging me about the outright ding. Something's gotta be up with this.

Re: 3.3/170
I asked my LOR writers to submit their letters to LSAC and send them to me via email "so I can send them to those schools that do not utilize LSAC." I had no reason to assume they would be anything but positive but I wanted to screen them all the same...

haha +1. that would make me feel awful. lying during the app process seems like a great start for a career in a profession based on ethics!plenipotentiary wrote:That is extremely shady.Chants wrote:I asked my LOR writers to submit their letters to LSAC and send them to me via email "so I can send them to those schools that do not utilize

Reading LORs before you send them off to schools that will determine your immediate if not entire future....shady? If you say so...
Lying? What if I decide to apply to a school that does not utilize lsac down the road? "Lying" is a bit harsh. And best of luck saving the world with your supreme lawyer ethics.

As mentioned above, it may have to do with your references/recommendations or other non-hard elements contained in your application. Or it may be due to a surge of very highly qualified applicants this year to Virginia.

It wouldn't be shady if you had been honest about your reasons for wanting to see the letters.Chants wrote:Reading LORs before you send them off to schools that will determine your immediate if not entire future....shady? If you say so...

Anyway, back on topic- looking into your LORs might not be a bad idea going forward with t14's. It will at least put your mind at ease that those are not the issue. Good luck with the rest of your cycle OP.

thanks, chants. in no way did i mean to imply that i am the ultimate ethicist, only that you weren't entirely forthright with your recommendation writers.
everyone else:
with similar numbers, would you all attend the best school you were accepted to or seek out $$$ from a lower ranked school?

Re: 3.3/170
I have very similar numbers (170/3.4) and I'm EDing to Duke, so I guess that answers your question. If Duke doesn't come through, I'll seriously consider switching my UVA app to ED- but I'd also like to see what happens with Vandy.mteevin wrote:thanks, chants. in no way did i mean to imply that i am the ultimate ethicist, only that you weren't entirely forthright with your recommendation writers.

i'm also an economics major -- saw your profile on LSN. are you in the south? just curious why you're sticking to one region, primarily.beachbum wrote:I have very similar numbers (170/3.4) and I'm EDing to Duke, so I guess that answers your question. Nah, I'm in Missouri. Several of the schools I'm interested in (Duke, Vandy) just happen to be in the south, though I'm definitely a fan of the region in general.mteevin wrote:i'm also an economics major -- saw your profile on LSN. are you in the south? just curious why you're sticking to one region, primarily.beachbum wrote:I have very similar numbers (170/3.4) and I'm EDing to Duke, so I guess that answers your question. Is UVA trying to raise their LSAT median to 171 this year?
Does anyone know of any 170/3.4ish applicants this cycle who ED'ed and got responses?

CaliMizzou, a TLSer who's also on LSN got accepted with a 3.31/170. Thought that gave me a pretty good chance.

Yeah, you must have done something horribly wrong to get straight up rejected. Either that or you are the unluckiest applicant ever. Did you sleep with the dean's wife or something?

Re: 3.3/170
They are definitely not raising their median to 171 this year, otherwise we would being seeing tons of 3.84-/170 WLs. Also, the number of October test takers was down 10.5% compared to last year, so it's unlikely that they'll get enough 171s to raise their median.whymeohgodno wrote:Is UVA trying to raise their LSAT median to 171 this year?

It's not looking pretty at the T-14. Retake for a 174+?
