Chances? 163, 164 / 3.96
I want to get into T14 or even T20. Took the LSAT twice...sucks because 164 on my lowest practice test preparing for Oct 2010 and was consistently scoring 167-170. But I don't want to risk not applying early because I think nerves get to me on test day so I will invariably do worse on the actual test than on PTs.
I'm not banking on anything in the T14, but if you could tell me my chances at the following schools I'm applying to, I'd appreciate it.
Undergrad at UCI, double major in Psych & Poli Sci, NON URM
GPA: 3.96
LSAT: 163/164
Softs:
Phi Beta Kappa
phi alpha delta (Pre-Law Frat)
Deans Honor list 11 quarters
Worked 20-30 hrs/week for my 2nd-4th years
Captain of my a cappella team (member for 4+ years)
1 year off after undergrad, working full time
LORs: 2 employers & Poli Sci Law Professor at UCI
Applying to (tentative list):
CLS
NYU
GULC
Boalt
Fordham
Notre Dame (Fee waiver)
UMich (Fee waiver)
UCLA (Fee waiver)
GWU
Northwestern (Fee Waiver)
Stanford
U Minnessota (Fee Waiver)
UVA (Fee Waiver)
U Chicago
Cornell
Hastings
USC
Duke
Any input would be muuuuccchhhh appreciated. Thanks!!!

I might be pessimistic here, but I'd say you pretty much have no shot at Columbia, NYU, or Chicago. USC and beyond looks fairly safe.

I completely agree lol...I'm literally only applying to those schools because my dream was to go to CLS or NYU...and there's always a "what if" factor. I'd rather be rejected than not know.czelede wrote:I might be pessimistic here, but I'd say you pretty much have no shot at Columbia, NYU, or Chicago. USC and beyond looks fairly safe.
When you say USC and beyond, do you mean everything else or everything ranked USC and below?

You have a shot at boalt. I'd say you don't have a realistic shot at Mich unless you ED. EDing to either Mich or UVA would be a good use.

Re: Chances? 163, 164 / 3.96
need ED for Mich. LSAT is probably too low for Boalt. I hate to say it, but even 1 point would have helped you a lot I think. a 168 would have been game changing. good luck with your cycle though. I hope I'm wrong about most of those.Gotti wrote:Bump. Just finished applying...didn't ED anywhere but I wrote a PS, DS, and Why X essays for every school. OP, looking at your update, any particular reason why you're not applying to ND?

It's too bad on the retake. Anything in your PT range would have put you in an entirely different class. Unfortunately, you're probably out at all t14, unless you change your M or V to ED. You can change your app to ED for UVa still. Dont know what the Michigan deadline is.
But you have a solid shot at USC and below (ranking wise).
You may get some reverse splitter love from UCLA and Boalt, but not really sure (LSAT might be just a bit low for what Boalt would go for even with your baller GPA)
EDIT: Any reason why you arent applying to UCI? You have a shot there I imagine.

Not to be too negative but you may not get in to any of these schools (except maybe Minn)...in all honesty there is a good chance you get a lot of waitlists and never get off....id reach down more into the t20-40 range...the GPA is awesome but that score is just a few points too low for a realistic shot at almsot all of these scores...hope im wrong though

What does Georgetown offer you that UVa won't? Aside from a headache finding decent, affordable housing?

This. UVA is better all around. Not only will you probably not get ED GULC, but would you like to pay sticker at a school that couldn't even beat VanderbilTTT in the latest NLJ250? ED UVA. Do in NAO.FunkyJD wrote:What does Georgetown offer you that UVa won't? Aside from a headache finding decent, affordable housing?

GULC in physically in DC, has way better lay prestige even though it’s 4 under UVA, and places way better in CA (where I’m from)…I’d much rather go there. I know UVA and GULC compete for the same DC market, but UVA does not place much at all in CAFunkyJD wrote:What does Georgetown offer you that UVa won't? Georgetown has way better lay prestige than UVa. Hmmm ... interesting.

Some say Gtown has lay prestige equaling HYS.FunkyJD wrote:Georgetown has way better lay prestige than UVa. Hmmm ... interesting.

I think OP was referring to prestige specifically in the CA market. Virginia's stock value in its name doesn't carry the same weight in L.A. as it does in D.C.FunkyJD wrote:Georgetown has way better lay prestige than UVa. Hmmm ... interesting.

oh yeah this is exactly what i meant. Honestly here in CA if you told someone you go to UVA they'd be like, what? is that even good?
but if you say i went to GULC they'd be impressed.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
