Chances? 162 3.47
Heres a little infor please don't take it as bragging bc I know most of you on this site own me scores and resume wise. 162 3.47 ND grad 2010, interned for 2 DA's and Congress, Marine Officer. Please let me know where in the top 100 I should be applying or any schools that may be very receptive to military applicants.

You should try Tulane. You may get waitlisted though - but it's still worth a shot.

^^ This proves how ridiculous people on this website are. If you apply early enough, Tulane is a near lock for someone from Notre Dame with good softs and those numbers - your LSAT is at their median, and your GPA is just below it (but you are coming from ND, so that should help).Aberzombie1892 wrote:You should try Tulane. Generally, you should apply to schools ranked between 20 and 30 as your reaches, and schools ranked between 30 and 50 as your targets. Your safeties would be high tier-2 schools.

Re: Chances? 162 3.47
Out of people with a 162 on LSN who applied to Tulane, 6 were accepted, 5 were waitlisted, and 3 were rejected. Out of people with a 162 and a 3.3-3.5, 2 were accepted, 1 was rejected, and 3 were waitlisted. Doesn't quite seem like a "lock", in fact I would go ahead and say the above poster who you lambasted was quite correct in saying he may be waitlisted.gz5hc9 wrote:^^ This proves how ridiculous people on this website are. Re: Chances? 162 3.47
Tier One (the "top tier") is the top fifty (50) law schools as ranked by USNews. Tier Two is roughly the next 50 law schools ranked from 51 or so through 100. Tiers Three & Four contain the final 100 ABA accredited law schools. All four tiers contain approximately 50 law schools. (Try to avoid Tier Four law schools.)
With a 162 LSAT score & a 3.47 GPA, you should be admitted to all Tier Two, Three & Four law schools and be competitive for all but the top twenty tier one law schools.

LSN is based on self-reports by the same losers who post on here everyday saying gpa and lsat are the only things that matter. The kid went to notre dame, has solid scores, and has good softs - he will get into tier 1 schools.SilverE2 wrote:Out of people with a 162 on LSN who applied to Tulane, 6 were accepted, 5 were waitlisted, and 3 were rejected. It's more "realistic cop" and "refuses to face the sad reality that he can't outperform his numbers" cop.trayball23 wrote:is this planned good cop bad cop?
OP, you have a shot at the lower T1, but waitlists can always be a possibility with schools you aren't safe at. If there is a secondary market you might want to practice, I would target a regionally strong school in that area and try to find some $$. You shouldn't have to look beyond T2 for safeties.

ND ranked higher than gtown and cal berkeley...
fact is, 3.47 from ND is more impressive than a 4.0 from a big state school with crappy academics. it just is. better school, smaller classes, more individualized learning experience, etc. people in academia (admissions officers) realize this.
ironically, if this kid had a 162 and a 4.0 from joe blow university, most people on this website would suddenly think he'd have a good chance at schools ranked between 20 and 40 because of his high gpa. instead, he has a 162 and a 3.47, and people start talking about safety schools in the T2. 162, 3.47 belongs in T1:

I take offense to the "reality that he can't outperform his numbers" statement. If this was the case I wudnt be retaking in a few weeks. I just don't want to waste money on apps. I asked just looking for advice not to try to make myself feel better... If I wanted to make myself feel better i would cheer for a better football team.... Unlike a lot of people who ask question on here I actually don't know the answers before I ask them. So i appreciate all the real advice given and would recommend a new flavor of hatoraide for the bashers.... criticism is appreciated but not snarky sarcasm

Ask for fee waivers. It works pretty well.trayball23 wrote:I just don't want to waste money on apps.
Sorry if you already addressed it, didn't want to wade through the bullshit - where do you want to work? Truly national schools are out, but some strong regional schools are a pretty good possibility.

Figure out where you want to work. Then apply to schools that do well there. You have no shot at national schools. The only schools you can get into are VERY regional.
