161/3.91 - predictions?

Post by serena5342 » Tue Nov 09, 2010 9:37 am

hey everyone -

I have a 161 (PTd at high 160s, low 170s and I'm not sure what happened...) and a 3.91 from a good undergrad school. Also PBK member as a junior. Good softs, and work experience during undergrad. Great LORs.

What do you think my chances are at:
Vanderbilt
William & Mary
USC (Gould)
UVA
Wash U
UCLA
Boalt

I know many will say to retake and not waste my GPA, but I already have a job offer for post-graduation so I figured I'd give it a shot now and depending on how this cycle goes, I'll retake next year and reapply :)

Thanks!!!

There's a reason why everyone will tell you to retake. Get a score in your PT range (170) and enjoy $$ from some of the lower T-14 and a decent shot at CCN, maybe even S.

Just because you have a job offer now doesn't mean it won't be there 3 years from now. Also, why leave tens of thousands of scholarship dollars on the table?

This. Not only are you likely not going to get in to any of the schools you named above, I don't think it's close enough to waste the hundreds of dollars applying in hopes of getting one. There will be people who disagree with me, but my advice is to work for a year while prepping and retake.

it definitely gets annoying when every single one of these threads is "retake," but if you were PTing near 170 then you HAVE to. That 3.91 would be a shame to waste. Get your PT average and enjoy the T14. Seems like you want the west coast, and B is definitely attainable with 3.91/PT average. good luck.

apply to U Washington if you want West coast and really want to go this year. They tend to like high GPAs and the LSAT is not terrible for that school.
