3.52/171 where to apply?
As the subject line states..... I have a 3.52 and a 171 (oct 10) up from a 160 (sept 09) and 163 (dec. 09). I applied the previous cycle and was waitlisted at UCLA (first choice) and Notre Dame. I spent way too much money applying to way too many out of reach schools last cycle, so I'm hoping to avoid that this time around. So where should I apply?
I'm generally against EDing... but is it worth a shot at any T-14 schools?
Thanks everyone!!

First off, if you have fee waivers to any of the bottom T-14, it is definitely worth a shot. Other than that, I would send an app towards Michigan, Virginia, Northwestern (if and only if you have WE), Cornell and G-Town. As for outside of the T-14 UCLA looks like a pretty good shot if you still want to go there.

MVP through Vandy would be worthwhile. Good luck.

I would think UCLA would be less likely than some higher ranked schools, given their preference for high GPAs.

Re: 3.52/171 where to apply?
If you really, absolutely, positively want UCLA over any other school (and you have a good shot at a couple of schools ranked above it, like Georgetown, assuming you have a good application), then ED to UCLA. It's 50/50 at the moment, but I think an ED to UCLA would go a long way in locking it up. Again, I don't suggest this as you have a good shot at other schools and should leave your options open... but if you have a huge crush on Westwood then that's different.
School's to apply to outside of UCLA:
-USC
-some safeties in the t20-25 range
-WUSTL, Vandy & Texas if you're OK with their regions
-Mich, Penn, Duke, UVA, Cornell, Georgetown, and NW with Work Experience.
If I had to guess, I'd say your a waitlist at all of Chicago, Columbia, NYU, and Boalt. But if you're willing to spend the money throw applications at them: Small chance you get one.
Try and score fee waivers from a few this week through CRS. I don't know the exact numbers but you're not too far off from mine and out of these schools I've gotten: USC, Mich, NYU, Columbia, UVA, Northwestern, Duke, WUSTL (and of course, Illinois) to bite. Might even get some more as the rest of this week goes by and I find more hidden ones... And personally email WUSTL, they'll give you one I think if you ask.

Throw apps at ccn if you have the cash. If you like NYU you could try ED but all 3 are tough without a 172+. Other than that, apply to everything except HYSB. Can't picture an acceptance from any of them. I imagine you have a decent chance everywhere else though.

hmm, is there a reason why UVA ED is such a popular recommendation? Are they more LSAT friendly?
And no, I am not an alt of whymeohgodno.

It is close to a sure thing. I would ED to your favorite MVPDN though. As a threetaker weak split you need the bumpohnowhattodo wrote:hmm, is there a reason why UVA ED is such a popular recommendation? Are they more LSAT friendly?

Alternatively, enjoy money at 15-17 and Cornell too probably. I know Vandy for one will throw gobs of cash at you.IAFG wrote:It is close to a sure thing. I would ED to your favorite MVPDN though. Bummer. From LSN they do have a decent amount of WLs in the green zone. Whether that's YP or "lack of fit" whatever that means, I don't know.IAFG wrote:Or Vandy will WL yourad law wrote:Alternatively, enjoy money at 15-17 and Cornell too probably. Maybe some of them for sure. Although when I applied in January I did see much of the same pattern.whymeohgodno wrote:Late apps?Bummer. From LSN they do have a decent amount of WLs in the green zone. Whether that's YP or "lack of fit" whatever that means, I don't know.
