The OP stated that his school requires hospitalization for *any* level of intoxication.
So when you travel in Asia, and they have these laws that if you get caught with even 1 gram of hash/weed, you go to jail for a very long time. Do you:

1. Choose not to do it because it's stupid to go to jail for that
2. Choose to do it and hope to not get caught, but complain after getting caught that it's stupid to go to fail for that

You put the level of offense in context based on your environment. When the punishment for minus infractions are high due to the place/time you just choose to not do it. It's not like he didn't know what was going to happen.

Exhibit A for strict Catholics.

Well no fucking shit, but stupid enough to make that mistake =/= alcohol dependency requiring AA and therapy and all this soul searching BS people are spouting.

False equivalence is false. Nor does it get to the heart of the issue.

You're making huge assumptions about who I am and how my opinions may or may not change based upon how you changed in your life. It's fucking retarded.

I asked to see if it would change, I didn't conclusively claim that it will, only inferred. It was open ended. Looks like everyone get personally defensive in this thread.

I don't see why it's so bad to want a kid to not break ANY rules. 3 times.

Because it's completely unrealistic and creates people who are assholes.

People who don't break rules are assholes?

BTW want != expect. I really don't who you are, but a parent knows a kid will do things wrong, but a parent would do everything to try to prevent it from happening. Unrealistic yes, but yet attempted every second.

The sad thing is the opposite is true.

I have posted about who I am and what my life is about on this forum before, so feel free to search if you don't believe me.

lol that I can respect. Only fools think world can be changed for the better maybe.

I mentor inner-city at-risk teens, should I be realistic about their lives?

Well then you seem to be having a lapse in rationality. I've read through this entire thread and nearly everything you have said is rediculous.

Ok. You do it your way, I do it mine. I will tell my kids to obey every rule, and you tell yours that you don't expect them to.

Do what you want, but I'm pretty sure those inner-city at-risk teens don't take you nearly as seriously as your overinflated ego would like to think.

Okay. I can respect your views. It's not rational to want/expect kids to obey rules. Got it.

Having seen friends work through substance abuse issues, I happen to agree with r6_philly.

And did you really just type rediculous? If you're going to insult someone on a message board, you should probably check your spelling and grammar first.

Wait, are you really trying to argue that you and philly are right because you've had friends with substance abuse issues? In terms of retarded shit people do online, you're beating out spelling it "rediculous".

Still funny, but it explains a lot.
