Chance me??
Here's my info-
GPA: 3.85
LSAT: 170
I've heard that the soft stuff doesn't count for much, but just in case it makes a difference, even though it probably won't:
Top 20 School
1 of 2 undergrads chosen for internship at Supreme Court's, Judicial Internship Program
Presidential Fellow w/Center for Study of Presidency and Congress, only one at my school one of 66 nationwide
Published Paper on Jury Nullification
All-Region Attorney and President of Mock Trial Team
Internship w/DOJ
Solid Recs.
No idea what to expect. I feel like my soft stuff is pretty good, but I'm worried my LSAT has taken me out of contention for the top schools. Also, I understand the law school application process is pretty formulaic, so I feel like once they see the 170 I'll be a weak consider at top schools. Darn... should I take LSAT again in December??? thx:):)

Re: Chance me??
You're most likely out at HYS barring a higher LSAT score. But still worth it to apply imo
Your top UG will help you a bit and your softs seem better than average.
I say you have a good shot at anywhere other than HYS. Although NYU/Columbia might be a WL.

I think that this is the first time I've seen softs that I would consider good that aren't work experience of some kind. I'm not saying that they will change the outcome of your cycle, but I'm sure that if you get by the numbers barrier you will be among the strongest candidates.
With regards to chances, +1 to im_blue's post (as always).

Are you still in UG? That could have a bearing on your chances at H and S, since only about 20% of each are straight through.
Beyond that though, even if straight through, apply everywhere. Those are numbers that'll get you a look at every school.

yeah, I'm still in UG. If I'm pretty sure I can get a 172 plus, should I take the LSAT in December and apply late in the cycle?? Or do you think I should just apply now?

Re: Chance me??
With a 172 you should definitely get into at least one of CCN, and you'll have a shot at HY with a 173-174.windowshade4910 wrote:yeah, I'm still in UG. If I'm pretty sure I can get a 172 plus, should I take the LSAT in December and apply late in the cycle?? Or do you think I should just apply now?

Re: Chance me??
with those softs I think you've got a good chance anywhere. the SC's Judicial Internship Program is like one of the best internships the country-- I think you'll be fine. congrats on that btw.
