Anything below a 160 would be a waste of that great GPA!

Re: Chances for a T20
If you could hit around 165 or better you would have an excellent chance at schools like Virginia that value GPA's more than other schools. IMHO retake in December and apply next cycle.

Your story is very very similar to mine, and I can honestly say all the extra stuff may not make a whole lot of difference, because all the side stories may be able to move a few people, it still is not going to substitute for cold, hard numbers. You have a great GPA and you should really spend some time working hard to improve your LSAT. I think you have the determination and drive to potentially get to a 166-168 range with proper prep and strategy. Then your options would be much better with T14's being a real possibility. If you write your PS on your son and you overcoming all that have been dealt to you, you have a good chance of getting somewhere that will be really rewarding for you.
Family law would be a much better focus for you to write about. Sports law... like someone said ... keep it your own dream, but don't focus on it because it probably isn't going to happen no matter where you go. I know the business and it depends too much on who you know.
