Thank you all in advance!

174 LSAT

3.6 in Electrical Engineering (upward trend 3.3 3.3 3.9 3.9 for the four years respectively) from Top 25 private school.

Investment banking internships during college (2 of them) and will have had 2 years of banking experience in NY at a well-reputed firm by the time I start law school (including extensive experience liaising with legal team (negotiations, term sheets) etc due to particular industry group I work in)

RA for a year during college, started two organizations during college, and am currently of a director of a non-profit that tries to provide health and education services in south-east Asia

2-3 research projects in electrical engineering/computer science

Strong LORs from electrical engineering professors

I have a strong preference for Columbia/NYU, and am happy to ED if that is what its going to take

Thanks again.

ED to one. You should have a good chance at getting into one...especially since you have EE as your major which is definitely a plus.

ED Columbia. I think you have a very good shot at it, and Columbia's placement is apparently a worthwhile upgrade over NYU if you don't mind being in a part of New York that has less of the party scene than NYU features.

You'll get Columbia, and if you definitely prefer it over and don't mind sticker then ED for the extra measure.

thanks guys. What about NYU? Assuming I do ED at Columbia, do you think my chances at NYU will be low if I get dinged at CLS?

Also, in terms of opportunities coming out of law school, I have no desire whatsoever to do Big Law. I am pretty interested in academia/clerkships etc etc. Would it be stupid of me not to consider Chicago as my top choice?

NYU is slightly easier to get into than Columbia, so yes you should be fine.

You have a pretty solid background and application going into this cycle. ED at Columbia will probably solidify an acceptance, and they place very well into clerkships/academia obv, so your decision should b easy. As a backup, I think you have strong chances at both NYU and Chicago RD, and C>N for your post-LS plans, but not by enough to make u choose C over N if you have a strong reason to remain in NYC region. That being said, I feel like NYU is improving in the area of clerkships lately, as i think the last figures of placement was close to 10%. That's comparable to Chicago. You might want to double check the specific #'s, but regardless it should put u at ease in choosing NYU.

edit:
Actually i'm pretty sure that NYU # is incorrect. It's probably around 7%, but again, you should double check.
