Brooklyn law school chances

I was just wondering what LSAT score should I be around to get into brooklyns part time program, I have a 3.18 gpa. I'd choose to do early binding decision. I'm prepping around 159.

ED might get you in, but Brooklyn is expensive (even PT) and EDing lessens your likelihood of getting any scholarships. Also, Brooklyn is in a heavily saturated market and there are plenty of horror stories about trying to get jobs out of BLS if you end up below the median. Have you thought about schools outside of NY.

Yeah, I'm thinking about seton hall but Brooklyn is really convinant. I work in the da's office and could probably keep my job (it's down the block). So I was just wondering what my chances were....

Also... Are there any fellow tls' who've gotten into Brooklyn with a similar gpa and and LSAT score in the low 160s

Clarifying the post above, there is little or no reason to assume that an ED student (in a binding ED program) would not receive the same basic Merit (or Need-based) Scholarship from a school to which she's gotten in. That would be inequitable. What may happen is that any later 'sweetener' is less likely, since the ED student is in a weaker negotiating situation.

just wanted to bump to see if anyone had anymore thoughts on an lsat score that would be enough to get in to brooklyn's part time... i guess early binding, i am latino and work in the da's office as a paralegal are things i think will help. i really want brooklyn.

I'd imagine anything over 160 would make it more or less a slam dunk, again money is unlikely though.

Chances are good if you are a "desirable" URM (Mexican/ Puerto Rican). There are some great forums where URM's with similar stats would probably be more helpful to you. You could probably do better if you are said URM, get that LSAT up a couple points and shoot for Fordham PT. The commute to Lincoln Center would be well worth it in terms of career prospects.

Merit-based aid
is the sweetener.

You dont want Seton Hall. Worse placement than Bklyn. I'm URM and was admitted to BLS almost 10 years ago with a horrendous LSAT scoIre. I was initially waitlisted but then taken off once I forwarded my spring semester grades and updated letters of recommendation. BLS was the only school that waitlisted me and I was accepted everywhere else I applied (American, Hofstra, NYLS, Pace, Touro). I was then placed on the Part Time Day program but after the first week of classes, switched out to the Full Time since several FTers dropped out after classes started.
Your 159 is competitive for the part time program. A friend of mine applied in the 2006-2007 cycle and her 159 got her admitted to the full time program. Her GPA wasn't anything special (3.4 from CUNY Queens College) and she's half white, half Peruvian.

If you get 160 or higher, I think you'll get in.
If you somehow score higher than you expect, I'd recommend looking at other schools.. it's hard to find a cushy city job from Brooklyn/Cardozo.
