3.5/172 ED to NYU or Columbia
172 single take with 3.5 at HYP undergrad. Varsity athlete with other decent softs. I'm looking to attend LS straight out of college. Currently leaning more towards NYU. Was wondering what my chances are doing ED at either cause LSP and LSN give mixed results from the split stats.

I agree, from what I hear, varsity athlete is a pretty damn good soft.

I would think that you get into whichever one you ED to (little to no $$$ given of course).

Isn't this a little optimistic? I'd expect at least a 173 is needed.lawyerwannabe wrote:I would think that you get into whichever one you ED to (little to no $$$ given of course).

I think being a varsity athlete would be such a boost. I mean if it is the ivy league it wouldn't be as intense as the higher level schools unless we're talking crew or something, but to be an athlete for four years and do that well is impressive

With the new NYU LSAT median in mind, do i have a shot at NYU ED?

The poster above (hopefullaw27) got in RD to NYU and is a part of those medians just released. So I would say yes, you still have a shot at NYU with ED.topgun_iceman wrote:With the new NYU LSAT median in mind, do i have a shot at NYU ED?

for reference: 3.8/171 (retake), non-hyp ivy, d1 athlete, ED and accepted to NYU.

I would say that the median decreases your chances but doesn't kill them. I think NYU will have their hands full this cycle trying to keep their LSAT numbers at their current levels, so they could still want you. I'd wait till Columbia's numbers come out before you make any decision obviously.topgun_iceman wrote:With the new NYU LSAT median in mind, do i have a shot at NYU ED?

With your GPA a nice bit above median I don't think this is an analogous situation.

The OP is out at CLS even with ED, most likely in at NYU ED. Do ED NYU.

With your GPA, and look at LSN, it looks like you could definitely get NYU and maybe even Chicago. But you'd need about another .1-.15 on your GPA for Columbia.

LSN is the more reliable of the two.topgun_iceman wrote: LSP and LSN give mixed results
The LSN data from 2009-2010 produced the new median, so the new numbers shouldn't cast doubt on any confidence that data had given you. Enjoy Washington Square Park. It's lovely.topgun_iceman wrote:With the new NYU LSAT median in mind, do i have a shot at NYU ED?

Re: 3.5/172 ED to NYU or Columbia
OP, I have your exact stats, although no D1 athlete. I applied to NYU a few days ago because, after making this kind of post after I got my LSAT score and looking hard at LSN for about 10 seconds, I realized I had no chance at Columbia no matter the softs. Def ED to NYU (Chicago is nerrrrrrrrrrdy).
