3.58/161/Fulbright
Hey all: I'm considering retaking the LSAT, but with my numbers right now, where do I stand? I've looked at LSN, but I'm wondering if my (English teaching) Fulbright might help push me over the edge at some schools? (I'm also a first generation college student.) I'm looking mostly at Midwestern schools... do I have a shot at Ohio State?
Basically, where should I apply? Which schools are good targets/safeties/reaches?
Thanks!

Are you URM? That would help much more than a Fulbright -- while it's very impressive (nicely done!), it probably won't affect your chances anywhere a great deal.dinner4two wrote:I'm also a first generation college student.

Maybe look at Nebraska, Kansas, Cincinnati, and Case Western. All of these schools are locks with probable scholarships. Retake in Oct/Sep, whatever it is this year and apply the moment you get the scores. Don't be like me and mess up with 2 160 scores. OSU I think you may stand a good chance applying even with your current stats but seriously consider a retake because one point puts you at their median. I am at a 3.54/160 and these are a few of the schools I am looking at but I certainly didn't earn a Fulbright. I went to OSU and I don't stand a chance in hell of getting in but I think you would get in. If you really cannot retake then the previously listed schools are safeties and OSU is a target, Iowa too. As for the reaches, guess others can answer that one.

In that case, I don't think you have a great shot at OSU with an LSAT right at median, seeing as how your GPA isn't too far above the 25th percentile. An improvement of just a few points (say 164ish) would really help your cause, if retaking is at all an option.

Thanks to both of you. I'm definitely considering retaking the LSAT... I'm just worried I'll get the same score like mpj mentioned.

What's OSU's policy regarding retakes? My guess would be they take the higher score, so even if you did end up with the same score (or even a lower one), you'd be in pretty much the same position.
Assuming you can afford to spend the money on the test, and have time to prep, a retake is definitely in your best interest.
