LOL a 3.8x is near their 75th percentile, while OP's 3.42 is well below the 25th percentile. Huge huge difference there. OP is a long shot to get in at sticker, let alone with money.dukelawguy144 wrote:Sorry, I thought OP was a URM.romothesavior wrote:Even if he is speaking from experience, the odds of an acceptance with money there are small. Your number combo is a wall of yellow on LSN. Duke was my only reject, and I had a 168/3.76. I would have expected at least a WL, especially since the rest of my app was solid.adammac17 wrote:yea.......i was kinda taken back at that statement lol id love to attend Duke, itll probably be one of my reaches but i dont really think i stand a chance at $.....im below 25% on gpa and around the median on lsat. are you speaking from experience?
Yea you may have a shot at Duke. I was a 169 and 3.8, so I was in thier range. I know someone (URM) who got in with a 167 and 3.46 with some scholarship.

Mind if I ask where you heard this? From Florida here and have very similar numbers to OP, and USC is one of my top hopes. I'm actually not too adverse to debt, but am wondering if OP's stats should get him into USC, being below 25% in terms of GPA, but above 75% in terms of LSAT.anniesaysrelax wrote:jks289 wrote:No all were yearly. not trying to pry too much but are you funding it through outside scholarships/grants or personal funds?
I'm funding most of school through personal means. The remainder I'll take it Stafford loans. I would still have been willing to take out the full loans at sticker. You're a splitter, which means you'll have to dip to get money. I have heard USC is generous to pull the higher LSATs, but I didn't apply. Good luck.
USC, and all the California schools really, are pretty strict about GPA. I wouldn't count on getting much from them, if anything.

If you look at the graphs on LSN it gets pretty bleak around the 3.6 mark, even at higher LSATs. This is coming from experience this cycle. I was in early and with $$ with a 167/3.74, but I watched as people with similar and higher LSATS but GPAs anywhere from 3.5 and down get WLed left and right, if not rejected. If you follow the CA schools its a pretty universal trend that they are more GPA focused.2011Law wrote:Mind if I ask where you heard this? You probably are all familiar with Law School Predictor, but Law School Numbers is far superior, especially for higher ranked schools with more applicants. Please refer to this resource:

With very similar numbers, I was offered half (or more) scholarship at:
GWU
WUSTL
ND
W&L
People with numbers like ours fell one of two ways at BC/BU this year. 1) They got in with decent money OR 2) They were WL'd. So they might be worth applying to, but neither is necessarily a sure thing.
As for Duke...it's worth applying to as a reach. I was WL'd there, and there might be something in your app that could be shinier than mine. So it's definitely worth a shot, but you're a far cry from money there, I fear.

Pretty sure LSP is an abstract formula derived from LSN's data. YCR could speak to this more since it's his site.romothesavior wrote:Attn: 0Ls

It is, but the formula really isn't helpful for splitters, URMs, or comparing what different schools look for.blowhard wrote: Pretty sure LSP is an abstract formula derived from LSN's data. YCR could speak to this more since it's his site.
I posted this in another thread, but here is an example:
For Vandy, median LSAT/sub-par GPA = ding
For WUSTL, median LSAT/sub-par GPA= pretty much auto-admit
So seeing a "consider" or "strong-consider" for both doesn't really help you, because in reality is more like "you're in" at WUSTL vs. "almost no shot" at Vandy. You also can't see things like walls and trends on LSN. Why use a calculator when you can see a very nice, easy-to-read graph of all applicants for all schools?
