Doesn't Harvard in particular seem like steep odds? Don't they average scores? My highest is still under their 25th.

Yeah, with those numbers and a great PS/resume you have a decent shot at Harvard and maaaaybe Stanford. Otherwise enjoy your scholly at UVA or Duke. Are you anti-NYC, btw?

I really don't want to end up in NYC for the long run. As far as the NY schools, they're great, but I think I would choose any of Chicago/Virginia/Duke over either NYU or Columbia.

That's fair. FWIW, I think you have a pretty good shot at UofC. NYU tends to be pretty regional, from what I've heard, but you might want to rethink your stance on Columbia (and if people have a different take on NYU, I'd love to hear it, not only to be corrected but also because I have a vested interest in the place...).

In his case, he is probably not taking Columbia because of fit. I know I'm turning it down because I don't think I would be happy in NYC, and I imagine I'll do better in law school when I'm enjoying my environment more. Columbia is a great school though, and places very well anywhere its students choose to go.

Fit is a fully valid reason for turning down a school. I was just responding to "for the long run," given that CLS places people all over the country. But I don't think any of us are in disagreement here. OP has great numbers and should get some fantastic scholarships at the places s/he is looking at.

your chances aren't good at HLS, but they still merit an application there. Decent shot of getting waitlisted there

Thanks for the replys. The Columbia/NYU thing is definitely an issue of fit, not a lack of faith in their employment prowess.

NYU is absolutely not regional. I work at a V20 biglaw firm, very prestigious, noted as one of the top firms. I'm at a West Coast office with over 200 attorneys. NYU has a "huge" national reach...into all of the major legal markets....

That's encouraging to hear. Thanks! Apologies for any thread hijacking.

Just got a 171 on June LSAT. It is a retake from my February 166. I have a 4.0 from a lesser "Public Ivy."

LOL...what does that mean? Have fun at your greater "Private Ivy" next year

I kind of giggled to myself as I wrote it. I meant to convey that my school wasn't Berkeley or UVA, but it was still in the category some label "Public Ivies."

Doppelganger! Thanks for the profile link, though - it's definitely encouraging. Good luck at UVA.
