I would ideally like to live and work in Chicago, so U of C and NW were my top two choices but I fell woefully short. I'm pretty open at this point to going anywhere, I would like to keep my options open and I want to see what are the best schools I could get into.

What top-20 schools would consider me? My GPA falls short at UCLA Texas Vandy and USC so should I even waste the app fee? Or do I have a legitimate chance?

And which Top 30 schools will overlook my GPA and offer me admission with maybe some scholarship money? ND? BU? BC? UIUC?

Again, any advice would be appreciated.

I have a 3.34 and a 166. I have a pretty long list of schools and being a 0L I can't really predict with any certainty, but I would think some of those Midwest schools would jump at you. What is your state of residency?

I took the exam in Dec 2008 and scored a 161, took it again after much preparation and only mustered a 165 despite 170+ on my last 10 practice exams. I am completely fed up with the LSAT and refuse to take it again in October.

My question is where should I apply with a reasonable chance of being accepted? I have safety schools lined up and all that jazz but what are the best ranked schools I should apply to that would not be a waste of the application fee?

Would BU or USC be a complete waste of money and time? Any remote chance at any of the t14? And any chance a midwest school like Wisc-Mad or U of I offer me some scholarship money?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

166 is way different than a 165, but the two scores are in a sort of "dead zone" between schools that like a 167 and schools where you have a good shot with a 164. If I were you 166ers, I'd apply to Emory. Strong regional appeal. Probably in as long as your GPA isn't toilet; money is a possibility. 165 is out, except for bleeding-edge GPAs.

That seems like a good list, I am looking at Georgetown PT and George Washington as my reaches as well.
