That's a tough call. You have a shot, but I think your chances are appreciably better if you ED at NYU.

maybe you'll get one of them... probably N... seems like waitlist is the likely outcome at CCN.

bad. i had a 176 and was wl'd at Columbia (granted, i had a really generic app to them that was basically taking a flyer), but still. not a good shot.

that's kind of an anomaly. 3.6/175+ is usually in.

i was 3.78/176, not 3.6. like i said, i took a flyer on them. free app was worth 12 dollars to maybe leverage the acceptance against some other schools i really wanted to attend (my wife said no schools above the mason-dixon line would be permitted). My app went complete mid-December also. So maybe that has something to do with it.

Enough about me. OP, you have a shot. But you need to stroke the fragile egos of these schools. For some reason, the higher the ranking, the more the school needs validation from you. You know what you have to do. Good luck!

Wow. I was a 174 with a barely better GPA and got in right away. I went complete in January.

eh, it happens. my gpa was low for them, i guess. maybe adcomms are smarter than we give them credit for. they could tell you wanted to go there and i didn't really. that's what they get paid to discern, right?

btw, congrats on the acceptance! are you attending?

OP, your huskers stole a national championship from penn state in 1994. just wanted to make that clear.

and you can get some cash with 3.6/172 i bet. 172 was a sweet spot for UVa this year or last year...check LSN.

Here's what complicated my decision. I'd rather go MVPDN with $$ over CCN sticker and so that's why I'm hesitant to ED. Also, I'm not really interested in living in NYC. I have personal connections to Chicago and Duke.

If you don't ED, you could end up on all three waitlists at CCN. You'd have a much better shot at Chicago if you went ED.

The problem is, you're a likely candidate to get yield-protected at MVP. If you have work experience, Northwestern is a lock, but if you're coming straight from undergrad, it'll be an uphill battle.

If you don't get YP'd at Michigan, they would throw some money at you for sure -- maybe in the $54k-$67k range.

Disagree that these numbers are in YP range for MVP.

we still would have won.

you can't possibly believe the 94 blackshirts could have stopped an offense that produced (no exaggeration) 70 years of NFL experience?

but let me be clear, when Nebraska played Penn State in Happy Valley, the fans were awesome. I like you. Sure, you can get into Chicago, what the hell.

those are NOT yp numbers in the MVP range, not with that gpa. and you might get some money, but i doubt it'd be > 60,000.

Look at the LSN graphs. You can argue about the cause -- whether it's YP or not -- but more people come up yellow than green at those numbers at all three schools. (And with a solid GPA and 75th percentile+ LSAT score, my money is on YP).

I agree that it's not necessarily YP range, but MVP is just unpredictable. It is a little suspicious that the numbers that are a little lower on LSN have more green.

OP- I had similar numbers, 174/3.56 (3 total LSAT takes though). Ended up WL'd at all of CCN, WL at Michigan, Hold-->Reject at Penn (No Why Penn or LOCI written), and 20k/yr at UVA. I strongly considered doing ED at Chicago, still am a little torn about not doing so but completely happy with how things ended up.

I like you too. I'm glad that you seem to be an Adcomm from UChi.

I can't wait for the the Nebraska vs. OSU/PSU/Mich games. We can also finally put those annoying hawkeyes in their place.

errrr huskers you mean?

Call it whatever you like, but 3.6x/172 does not fare well at MVP:
Michigan 3/9
Virginia 1/9
Penn 3/9

Why X Essays are vital at MVP, not so much at CCN. Try not to make a cookie cutter essay, spend a lot of time on the schools website reading about what appeals to you, read threads from current students on TLS about the school, and even try to visit sometime when school starts in the fall if you have the chance and see if you can sit in on a class or two. Keep in mind though--visiting the school is good for providing talking points in Why X essays or LOCI, if it would be very costly or difficult to do though don't go through with it since doing so won't produce substantial returns.
