This will be interesting, wamc at a T14?

Post by Hookem09 » Mon Jun 07, 2010 8:22 pm

GPA: 3.93
LSAT: 168
Major: Music Education
Undergrad: University of Texas at Austin
LOR: 2 from professors and 1 from a criminal defense attorney in Dallas
Personal statement: I've been told it's good but I don't feel comfortable posting it online.

I plan on applying to all T14 schools next fall, do I even have a chance? I know my stats are good I'm just worried about my major and whether or not that will be a problem.

In at the lower half of the T14, minus NW.

You should get into some of the T14, probably not the T6. I don't think the major should affect your app much. Education may even play well at the PI-minded NYU, though your LSAT is below their first quartile.

LSN showed guys getting into Michigan, Cornell, UVA, Duke, and Columbia with those numbers. Definitely worth a shot at Berkeley. Where do you want to practice, out of curiosity?

I had nearly identical numbers (3.9/169 w/safe PS and 3 solid LOR). Here are my T14 results:

Chicago: Ding
Berkeley: Ding
Columbia: Reserve
Penn: WL
NW: Reserve
G'town: Preferred Waitlist + Priority (F U)
Michigan: In w/$$
Cornell: In

My app probably took a hit at G'town and Penn because I took the LSAT 3 times (avg ~162) and I had almost no ext. cir. or work exp. I figured, I had a good shot at Penn and G'town based on numbers alone. 168 (and 169 for that matter) are probably a bit too low for the T6, but it might be worth a shot to submit a couple apps. Someone might bite.
