3.6/171
- Do not have great softs..involved in various extracurricular stuff, but not a lot.
- Planning to get first work-experience under my belt this summer.
- Attending top-20 undergrad and planning to apply as early as possible this coming cycle.
- Have not gotten letters of rec yet, they should be ok, nothing special.
- Personal Statement should be good.
- Again, 3.6 GPA and a 171.
- A die-hard Knicks fan so I feel God owes me something.
I am looking at the following schools..
Yale
Harvard
Stanford
Columbia**
NYU**
Berkeley
Chicago
Pennsylvania
Georgetown
UCLA
Texas
** Dream schools, considering doing early decision.
Any feedback would be appreciated..thanks.

Yale - Out
Harvard - Out
Stanford - Out
Columbia** - WL/Out
NYU** - I think you have a shot here with a well-put together application, apply early and ED
Berkeley - Berkeley was kinder to above median LSAT splitters earlier in the cycle last year, apply early and I think you have a shot.
Chicago - WL/Out
Pennsylvania - In
Georgetown - In
UCLA - In
Texas - In $

Applying ED to Columbia or NYU could help- your chances are better at NYU by the way, if you don't have a preference between these two schools: NYU ED.
Be prepared to settle for a lower T14.

Re: 3.6/171
I applied this cycle in november with a 3.6 and 171
Here were my results:
Columbia-Waitlist
NYU Early Decision-Deferred then waitlist
Penn-waitlist
UVA-waitlist
Cornell-In
Georgetown-Waitlist then accepted
BC-waitlist
Fordham-In
Don't ED at Columbia unless you really really want it because it's probably a waste. ED at NYU, it's probably a waste but if you really want to go there it's worth taking the risk.
I also think in at Penn is to optimistic. Most people with 3.6/171 get a waitlist.

I've got very similar stats and slightly better softs. Here's what happened to me:nykfan7073 wrote:- Do not have great softs..involved in various extracurricular stuff, but not a lot.

Columbia** (WL)
NYU** (Ding)
Berkeley (Ding)
Pennsylvania (WL)
Georgetown (In)
Northwestern (In, $$$)
Michigan (In, $$)
NYU frowns upon taking the LSAT twice so that may have hurt me there. Also, I think that not writing a
"Why Penn" was not wise. If I were you, I'd ED at NYU and blanket the top 14. I'm sure you'll get in somewhere great. Good luck!!

Re: 3.6/171
for me, I had slightly different #s: 3.65, 170, but stronger softs, and cycle as follows:
harvard:wl
columbia:wl
nyu: in
chicago:wl
berkeley: out
penn: wl
mich: wl/in
cornell: in
georgetown: in
didn't ED at nyu, but def got lucky on that one. i also applied in mid-december, so if you apply early and ED, you are definitely in the game. spend some good time building your application and personal statement. I think Columbia ED would be a waste, but you r a good applicant for MVP and pray for the NYU ED. Good luck!

Re: 3.6/171
YHS are definitely out with your low GPA. Berkeley is most likely out as well for the same reason. Columbia ED is also a waste because you have auto-ding numbers there (below both medians). You have a small chance at Chicago, NYU, and Penn, so maybe ED at NYU.
