I'd say you have a good chance everywhere except NYU/Penn, which you could be admitted to, but they are reaches. Your GPA helps put the borderline LSAT over the edge I think.

i've done the chiashu and lsac calc stuff, but here goes anyway:

- 3.95 UG GPA, 4.05 LSDAS GPA, 166, whitey
- completely worthless ECs (had to resort to using intramurals as one just to fill up space...ouch)
- unique ps (i know the only chance i have at some of these schools is if it really blows them away)
- anyway, here's where I'm applying:

harvard (Ding, I know)
NYU (Ding, almost certainly)
Michigan
Virginia
Northwestern
Georgetown

Texas
WUSTL
Boston U.
Fordham

Tulane

Any other suggestions? I know that I should blanket the mid-to-low T14, but I couldn't really see myself at Cornell or Penn, and I despise Duke.
Don't really know enough Berkely, I guess.

LSDAS counts A+'s?

I posted this in the wrong thread initially. Maybe I am not law school material. =)

3.27, 174 LSAT, (some soft factors - an MA and a little bit of work experience, etc.)

ED to Penn

NYU
Columbia
Chicago
UVA
Georgetown
Northwestern
UCLA, USC
Vanderbilt
Washington U - Saint Louis
UC Hastings
Santa Clara

Matty: You should definitely apply to Berkeley. I've heard they like high GPAs, and it's a great school. I actually know quite a few people who went there and graduated last year. All of them are doing very well now. Many have high level clerkships and jobs at prestigious law firms. The grading there is pretty nice too, since they use a P/H/HH system.

alright, let's see the advice that I get : )

3.22 GPA (better Major grades, bad grades mostly from being a Premed)
158 LSAT
URM (hispanic)
Excellent Resume (very little Work Exp, but lots of community service and travel)
Decently good PS
Probably want to practice in Texas, but may consider other places (maybe California)

matty: sfmeg is right, definitely consider boalt. a friend applying last cycle (non-urm) with numbers very similar to yours got in straight from undergrad.

aright lets give this a shot...i have a 3.83 gpa and lsat i have 160,172. i bascially applied to the whole t14 except for yale and berkeley(live in NJ and only going out west for stanford). What are my chances at these schools. I know 3.83/172 would get me into most but idk how much of a factor that 160 is giong to play. Oh, and also im white and my soft factors are probably no better/no worse than average

LSAT 170, LSDAS GPA 3.52
Ph.D. in social sciences, 4 years work experience and other good soft factors

I am hoping to attend Columbia or NYU (certainly would love to get into Yale or Harvard, but I think it's unlikely b/c of my gpa). I'd also be happy at Penn, Duke, Georgetown, and maybe Chicago, Michigan, UVA, Boalt, Cornell. Safety is Fordham.

What do you all think? Is this a realistic list?

You'll def get into NU if you apply.

Some of the T14 should admit you.

Good chances @ CCN imo.

I see nobody had as much fun as I did Freshman year. Well, here's my list. What do you think? GPA 2.93, LSDAS 2.87 LSAT 160 retaking December.
Soft factors: Double-major B.A. MA from French University. 7 years work experience. Tri-lingual: English, French, Mandarin. Several years of Varsity sports during undergrad.

Da list:
Safety
Gonzaga
Creighton

Target
The Catholic University of America
Depaul
UPenn-Dickinson
St. John’s
Marquette
Pacific McGeorge
Santa Clara
USF

Reach
Tulane
Villanova
Seattle University
Temple
University of San Diego

Throwing myself to the dogs here....what are my chances at UC Hastings?

3.51/161 & 150 LSAT. Non-URM. Did not apply through LEOP.
Their 25th - 75th stats: 160-165; 3.36-3.74 (this is for entering Fall 2007 class)

Not sure if this stuff matters as much, but you can let me know: YMCA camp counselor and youth adviser over summers, volunteer with environmental org., worked part time to full time throughout undergrad (including one law firm), officer in one campus organization, deans list 8 semesters, Marketing Major/Political Science Minor, state school. I'm taking one year off before law school and working at A Family Law Firm as a legal assistant.

If the 150 was first, better then if the 150 was second.

If it's first, then you could make a case for showing improvement, if it's second....harder. Bad test day is possible but then, why not cancel?

150 was the first.

But I'm not curious about the LSAT score, I want to know my chances for Hastings.

what are my odds

Hey y'all ive doon some of those calculator things but I could really use some of your opinions. Here are my stats:
UGPA: 3.0 (From Columbia)
LSAT: 178

soft factors are pretty much awful, no great excuse for bad gpa like a hard science major, I was a polisci major, and no real extracurriculers except some intramural softball, and mediocre at best recommendations. I pretty much got that classic "slacker-underachiever" label stapled to me.

I would love to go to UCLA or USC, but I think they might be too much of a stretch, what do you guys think my chances might be?

Posted: Tue Nov 13, 2007 6:27 pm

They might be a stretch, since they like GPA a lot, but better schools like Northwestern are a good shot.

I think they'll consider that that GPA comes from Columbia. I'd be shocked if you didn't get into both.

I mean, you could get into half of the T 14 with those numbers.

178 sounds nice to me.

I'm in a similar boat - pretty much same GPA, with higher LSAT (173). Have you checked out LSN? I think Columbia is certainly a reach for you, not a target.

Harvard is an extra-reach. I don't think any non-URM got in with my numbers last year, let alone 2 LSAT points lower.

Georgetown and Cornell are good targets.

MVP are somewhere between targets and reaches, especially Virginia and especially especially Penn. Penn is actually harder to get into - for high LSAT law GPA types like you and me - than NYU. Most of the acceptances in your range for UVa and Penn were WL, Acceptances.

If you could pull your GPA over 3.5, your chances at Chicago would certainly look brighter since their 25% GPA is around 3.53.

do the best you can. [/url]
