To the conversation about Berkeley: LSN is not representative, it is only a few hundred people each cycle. Not to mention people could be lying. The actual numbers do not add up, sure it is a decent guide but don't base your decisions of LSN. If Berkeley has a median LSAT of 166 and a median gpa of 3.79, don't you think you have a good shot with a LSAT of 165-169 and a GPA of better than 3.9? Seriously, how many people did Berkeley admit? If half of them have lower numbers than 166 and 3.79, I don't think they are all URMs or internationals. Have some confidence and apply, I think you have a legitimate shot - better than their acceptance rate.

^^ Of the schools on that list, I've got to say I'm leaning towards UVA. I'm interested in working for the FBI, and I hear they've got people who know people at UVA.

I've considered Yale, too, but they've got a strange grading system that I don't like at all... I told that to the admissions rep when he showed up at the U of C campus today, and he was not at all helpful. The way he talked about it, it seems like you have no idea at all how you're doing until you get a P, an NP, or an H on your transcript.

Uncertainty is bad.

- West-Coast Canadian (pro or con??)
- Work study at 3 law firms including under my uncle, the managing partner of O'Melveny and Myers (SV), as well as under my father in Vancouver and family friend in Hong Kong
- 3.78 GPA 3rd year (upward trend worth anything?)
- UVic President's Scholarship for outstanding GPA

- Black Belt martial artist
- Certified Krav Maga self-defense instructor by Krav Maga worldwide in Los Angeles. Attended intensive training in LA during 2nd year (youngest instructor in British Columbia)
- Instructor at the national Krav Maga training center in Vancouver
- Launched and instructed (on my own) the Krav Maga program in Victoria, which I ran and taught by myself throughout third year

Thank you all in advance for your input. Fordham is really my top choice, so while I know it's a bit of a long shot even for part time, I'd love some feedback regarding that.

My stats are similar to yours....

3.2 GPA from Boston University, 163 LSAT (I retook, 159 in Feb)

Soft Factors

In my final stages of PHD in molecular biology, strong recs from my committee/advisor
Lots of volunteer and professional experience

Fordham part time is also my top choice.... i called them and they said their median part time stats are 3.5 GPA and 162 LSAT.... I don't think it's that long of a shot for you....

I am also interested in St.Johns, New York Law, and Brooklyn

invertshadow: You need more "safety" schools. You have no chance at Cornell or W&M. Practically no chance at Temple, Florida, Rutgers and very small chance at Miami and St. Johns. Cast a wider net at lower T2 and T3 schools. This is assuming you're not a URM.

awesomerossum: I think you're a strong candidate for Penn on down. Might be able to slide into one of CCN if you play your cards right.

Super Reaches or Reaches...fine...but even I don't call em targets (often) at 166...

I think he is banking on being URM, but Native Americans don't receive that big a boost. He might get lucky off some waitlists, unlike this guy: --LinkRemoved--

Or else, he just means "target" in the sense that he's aiming there.

From what I understand NA gets a very large boost. Not as much as Black, but more than hispanic. I would still say looking at lower T25 would be a much safer bet while still applying to the higher schools. Be sure to explain to your wife that the salaries for T25 schools aren't substantially lower than those for T14 or whatever... provided you do well in law school. Then tell her you will do amazing in law school, and hold true to your word.
