In at Florida?

Postby ram jam » Mon Jan 04, 2010 10:29 am

Gpa: 3.05
Lsat: 159 sept, 164 dec

UF averages lsat scores, or at least takes both into consideration. What do you think, will I be accepted? Be honest.

Thanks for the consideration!

Dude, it is a toss-up with your GPA.

and I'm just going to say this before it happens--because it does with every UF acceptance thread.

It doesn't matter if you are Floridian, there is no residency boost..

Hey, good luck. Maybe I'll see you in the fall. UF is quick to respond on apps, so you should know soon.

Florida Resident, decent resume, no significant softs. Thanks for the postings and help!

With my GPA and a 164 I should, at worst, be waitlisted. However, if my scores are averaged I may fare worse.

What are my chances, given the previous, and lower, lsat score?

Thanks!

I truly think it is a gamble, but I appreciate the comments.

Someone with your numbers got in last year:

I'd say you'll probably end up on the WL, though. I bet if you keep on them though, they'll want that 164. (I wouldn't worry too much about them averaging LSATs -- UF doesn't get too many 164+ LSATs, they'll be happy to have yours).

Also, you'd probably get in to FSU.

You might get $ from FSU. They'll take your 164 and not average. Also they give out money a little more freely than UF does--UF gives almost no merit aide, and nothing coming close to 50%. But tuition here is so low, 4k goes a very long way.

As others stated, it's a crapshoot due to your GPA.

Agreed. UF gives very little money out.

Agreed. UF gives very little money out.

But at the same time it's dirt cheap. You can also claim FL residency after first year.

Oh, there's no doubt that it's dirt-cheap. It's great if you're in-state!

However, they're (apparently) making it harder to claim FL residency after your first year; the standard in the statute is "clear and convincing" now. (Before, I don't recall even seeing a standard.) I believe the OP is a Florida resident, though, so it doesn't matter for him/her.
