am i wrong?

Postby am060459 » Mon Jan 04, 2010 3:00 am

i understand that getting in your application early as possible gives you an advantage. i have a 3.24 LSDAS gpa and am taking the June lsat. assuming that that will be the only test i take and i score a 160 (conservative [PT range from 150-155]). if i apply to schools that i'm borderline at will this give me some sort of a boost? i plan on ED'ing at a possible reach like UIUC.

any input would be much appreciated. thanks.

list consists of:

UIUC
Iowa
Ohio State
Fordham
Indiana - Bloomington
Colorado
Alabama
Georgia
U Wisconsin-Madison

Much much better to discuss these things after you get your score back. If you're taking in June you'll have plenty of time to figure out what schools will be safeties and reaches for you before any ED deadlines.

Nobody's going to be able to give you any help on this at all because nobody knows what your LSAT score will be until you actually get it, and no advice will be at all useful without it.

i understand but lets make an assumption (not an unlikely assumption) that i score a 160. i just want to know how much of an advantage that would be.

If I had to guess, I'd say you stand a high likelihood of being shut out from all those schools with a 160 and a 3.24. The low GPA really hurts you since you are not above the median LSAT at these schools.

You're about at 25th percentile with both numbers at UIUC, assuming a 160. That makes you very weak there. ED would help, but not too much. It'd take you from a "probably not" to at best a "maybe", though that's still going to be below 50/50. Either way it'd come down to your PS and story, and whether or not it's strong enough to overcome your low numbers. Your GPA really holds you back and means you need to compensate with a better LSAT.

Study your ass off, get 166+ (166 is their median), and then you'll be a much better shot at UIUC.

i agree with both of the statements above. it was a conservative estimate that i get a 160. thanks.
