I'm hardly an expert on UNC, but I'll throw in my 2 cents.

UNC has a very strict residet policy regarding admission, so I think you have a decent shot because of that. You are a bit below both medians though, so it's tough to say. I'm guessing the numbers for UNC are a bit less reliable than at other schools because the non-residents they let in all are probably way above median (but I could be wrong). I've heard they are big on GPA which doesn't really help you.
Since they evidently require specific essays, I'm guessing with numbers like yours a lot is going to depend on what they think of those.
Best of luck

I'm applying to UNC as well. I will impart to you as much as know about their application process.
1. UNC won't even begin looking at 90% of the applications for another few weeks. (Most of the current UNC-law students I have spoken with received their acceptances in March...horrible I know) I have spoken with the rep there several times and he has convinced me that the school really will not start reviewing until mid-January, that's not just admissions office rhetoric.
2. Your numbers are lower than the medians but you are in-state which is huge and as much as others might disagree those 2+ 4 page essays you wrote will carry some weight as well. Depending on your recommendations, the required essays and any other sofs you may have, you will certainly be close to what they are looking for.

Good luck!

I can echo the information given above after speaking to a unc admissions rep yesterday. I was explicitly told that they will not begin looking at the majority of applications until late january, and that they are required by nc state law to admit between 70% and 75% nc residents. I'm 3.6/162, right at their medians, so I'm hoping the in state status puts me over the edge.
