Sorry for my ignorance, but who exactly can attend ASD? Is it only for admitted students, or can prospective students go to get a feel of the school? Is it weird to show up if you're not admitted yet? What should one be excepting when attending?

Two of the three words in the title define who is invited.

Days can’t be invited.

I just inhaled a bit of coffee. This was probably the highlight of my day.

Is it ok to take a sibling to ASW? I value my brother's protective and support

I'd read it when it was originally posted, but seeing it again, along with Kenya's response, was a welcome bit of comedy for my morning.

Nah it lets them give you your rejection letter in person--I'd definitely recommend it!

Last year Yale even gave me something called a TRO just for showing up! :P

It would DEFINITELY be weird to show up if you're not admitted, especially since many ASWs have specific schedules for the day and you usually have to check-in.

That being said, on top of admitted students, some programs allow you to bring guests (parents, siblings, significant others) while others do not. Do pay attention to that - it'll be in the email inviting you to visit ASW. You don't want to be the kid who shows up with their mom at a "students only" ASW.

Every school is different, but typically you would RSVP to such an event through some sort of admitted students portal or site. No one just shows up, even admitted students.

However, my school is allowing me to bring guests. I don't remember if it specified whether or not the guest had to be a relative / spouse / etc.

If you're that interested in attending, perhaps check to see if you know someone who did get accepted and tag along as a guest, providing that the school allows it. Otherwise, sign up for a tour if you're in the area.
