Hey had some questions about open house since it is that time.

1.) ok to bring gf?

2.) what to wear?

3.) do I have to stay for the whole thing?

1) if they allow a guest, yes
2) business casual unless otherwise specified
3) i would suggest yes unless you have a good reason

1. Totally fine to bring gf. As long as she isn't going to distract you, and you are still able to engage in the activities and events, its fine to bring whoever you want along with you.

2. Don't go overboard dressing up. Business casual at most. You already got in. An accepted students day is not a day for you to impress the school. Its a day for the school to impress you. Some khakis and a polo would be fine, though I saw a bunch of kids who just wore T-shirts. You definitely don't want to be the loser who wears a suit. That one I can tell you for sure.

3. Def don't have to stay for the whole thing if you don't want to. Just let the school know so that they can get you all the info and materials you need. Again, this is not a super formal event, and it is the school who has the burden of impressing.

Cool. Thanks guys.

Wanted to bring the gf since she is helping me decide. It's gonna be a pain in the ass because this weekend I'm going to hofstra, and they start their open house at 730 am. Kinda early especially when I live in CT.

I wore slacks/polo to my first asw and really, nobody cares. Jeans/polo would be fine. Kind of depends on whats going on - if its just panel discussions/mock class , sure. If its an awards ceremony with a fancy lunch etc, wear slacks/khakis I guess. Up to you.

Just dont look like Snooki or something.

If it's warm/hot, would a skirt be TCR for girls?

Yup, but please please please make it an appropriate length. You wouldn't believe the short skirts that some girls wore. That's just not appropriate. I wore knee length with a nice solid top and some mid height heels. Be aware of shoe choice if there is a long walking tour involved.

I don't recall seeing many people biz casual at UVA yesterday. We all wore shorts and tees.
