I'm going to both, then on to Harvard. Staying with a student at Columbia (and Harvard hopefully), but they don't offer that option at NYU. I'm wondering if anyone (female) is interested in sharing a hotel room for Friday and Saturday nights? I'm trying to save $ wherever possible. PM me if you are.

NYU Law tends to have a pretty decent ASW Thursday night. :)

Our first one rocked, and the one at the end of March is going to be awesome also. We're getting all the admits free admissions to the Law Revue performance, then taking you out for a night of fun. Get excited!

This is mostly for the ladies, but I'd be willing to consider non-creepers with XY chromosomes:

Is anyone interested in getting a group of 4 or 6 together and staying at the Hostel International? I think it's a little closer to Columbia than to NYU, but convenient to public transit. One of my NYC friend who couldn't host me suggested it as a cheap alternative to hotels, but warned that it might be rowdy with spring breakers. The idea behind getting 4 or 6 of us together is that we could book together and get a full 4 or 6 person dorm to ourselves (there are even rooms with a private bath, I think) and not have to deal with drunken high schoolers or whatever it is my friend was warning about.

PM me if you're interested and I can put together an outline of the costs and sort out the dates.

You could also stay with current students for free. I know that, at least with Columbia, if you e-mail Admissions they can hook you up with those of us who've volunteered to put people up in our apartments during ASW.

Anyone still looking for housing Thursday night during NYU's ASW? I am about to buy a hotel room (I know, really late), but I figured it might be better to stay with someone going on the visits as well.

(I posted this in the "Discuss Your Law School" forum, but thought I'd checked here too, to get the full benefit of TLS wisdom)

Does anyone have any insight on classes to sit in on during ASW? I'm looking for something on Wednesday morning. Here are the choices the school lists:

9:10 AM-10:30 AM Property+
Professor Dan Rodriguez, JG 103

9:10 AM-10:30 AM Federal Courts
Professor Trevor Morrison, JG 104

9:10 AM-10:30 AM Jurisprudence: Selected Problems
Professor Kent Greenawalt, JG 107

9:10 AM-10:30 AM Secured Transactions
Professor Ronald Mann, JG 105

9:15 AM-10:30 AM Property+
Professor Lance Liebman, JG 102

9:30 AM-10:30 AM Criminal Law+
Professor Hal Edgar, JG 106

9:30 AM-10:30 AM International Securities Regulation
Professor Merritt Fox, **WJ 103

I'd skip Rodriguez's Prop since he's a visiting prof. If you really want to see the gunners and try-harders in action go to Fed Courts (it has the double screening whammy of everyone wanting to clerk AND being at 9am). Don't go to Jurisprudence because it's not really a real class. But out of this list, I'd stick to Liebman or Edgar, because you're not going to get much out of the rest.

TLS CLS/NYU ASW #2 Survey

If you're attending either/both admitted students days this weekend
in Manhattan and might be interested in a TLS meet-up, please
fill out this quick survey. This is so last minute, but I figured there
might be interested people.

So, here's an update: 32 (wow!) of you guys signed up to meet-up this week in the Big Apple.
I am in the process of making arrangements so that we can all meet on Thursday.
I will be sending a private PM to those who RSVP'd tonight, so be on look.
If you don't get the message, or didn't sign up until much later, send me a PM
and I will happily text you all of the details.

Is anyone staying at Hostelling International? I might book a bed there, but I'm only going to NYU so I'm looking for a good hostel closer to the South end, but HI seems to the best/cheapest.

Depending on which class you think sounds more interesting, Franke, Hemphill, or Waxman are the ones who really stand out and would be interesting to see even if you're just going to be watching one lecture and have no idea what's going on. Raskolnikov & Tax could be a good experience as well. Of the others, I'd probably avoid Strauss or Damrosch.

I've had Richman and Hemphill, and love them both. Agree with sbalive - avoid Damrosch and Strauss.

At Columbia now!

It's beautiful, I love the campus and morningside heights and I met lem! Yay!

I'm getting a feeling, however, of kind of.. Mild liberalism. Which is good. Better, to me, than any type of conservatism. I however am kind of a radical when it comes to womens and childrens rights, and I just found out there isn't a feminist group on campus. I realize it's dumb for me to expect a t5 to be radical, but maybe nyu will prove different? Thoughts?

Edited for you! jk - from reputation, yes, sounds like NYU and Berkeley are the most liberal of the T10. :) Hopefully I'll see you around Columbia's lovely campus tomorrow, fellow radical liberal! I'm sure we'll find a friendly group of like-minded folk wherever we end up.
