What to wear...
I'm going to visit a bunch of schools in southern California in a couple weeks, and I was wondering what I should wear. I plan on meeting with someone in admissions (I haven't heard back from any of the schools in the area). Casual? Business casual?

If you're a guy, a three piece suit or tuxedo, nothing less.jck4487 wrote:I'm going to visit a bunch of schools in southern California in a couple weeks, and I was wondering what I should wear. Tuxedo? For SoCal? Don't be ridiculous.
Tuxedo t-shirt is the obvious way to go.

I'd go nude. It'll really help them get to know you better.

I didn't think they wore clothes over yonder. In all seriousness I plan on wearing a blazer and khakis when I visit to look over schools...probably would draw attention to yourself though...just wear some khakis and a polo shirt

Jort shorts are imperative. They recommend it to all prospective students on the FAQs

Aren't jean shorts just awesome? It makes me smile just to think about them. And I'm not talking about the super tight black cutoffs. I'm talking acid washed Levi 550s with a hem about 2in above the knee, preferrebly worn with a size XXL Jeff Gordon t-shirt. Now THATs a good look.

I plan on visiting schools as well, and I'm probably going to wear khakis w/ a polo shirt (tucked in) and a nice pair of shoes. I'm probably going to shave my beard too...

In all seriousness, if you're visiting in the winter, keep the beard. If it's hot, maybe it needs to go.pfla wrote:+1ksimon2007 wrote:I didn't think they wore clothes over yonder. You know, the truth is, more than likely, the reason people don't take these "what should I wear" threads seriously is because it does not matter. As long as you don't show up in jean shorts and an AC/DC shirt, the visit will not make or break you.

If you show up in a Savage Garden shirt, they give you a full-ride.Capitol A wrote:In all seriousness, if you're visiting in the winter, keep the beard. Hooray! I plan on going the first week of February, and it should be cold (New York City). Re: What to wear...
Lol to this thread. I went on a tour last summer and spoke with someone in admissions. I wore a casual but nice skirt (clearly nicer than the shorts/tank I'd wear on a typical summer day, but not a suit) and a nice tee shirt with it. I also wore low pumps, a matching headband and nice jewelry. There was one other girl on the tour, and she was dressed in a similar way.

Wear what you would wear if you were meeting your girlfriends parents for the first time at a Cheesecake factory.
