There was a good number--I think they're the largest minority group at SLS, if I'm not mistaken.

Do you mean current students or admitted students? Admitted student numbers are what we are concerned about.

Well, official figures put Asian-Americans as the most numerous at 13%. As for AA, I'd say 10%ish

yes I'm concerned with the number of admitted AA's, not current. Last year there was only 17 (10%) so i'm not sure what a "good number" is this year.

The ASW was awesome! I had to leave early because I was (and still am) feeling pretty under the weather, but I had a wonderful time meeting the faculty and my fellow admits. My Cousin Vinny and bowling + beer were especially fun :D

I was pretty impressed with the ASW too. Where you there when Dean Kramer gave his epic answer to the kid who asked if he planned on gaming the rankings to try to get to #1?

No, when was this?!?! And what did he say? Feel free to PM me if you want :)

Dean Kramer is hilarious, by the way.

Yes, please share :D

If you're interested in a version of Kramer's remarks, check out the short piece he wrote for the fall issue of SLS's alumni magazine, available here: http://stanfordlawyer.law.stanford.edu/ ... he-dean-2/

These remarks, which contrasted starkly with the reactions of other law school deans to the current legal economy, was one of the things that first really impressed me about SLS. His presence at ASW (along with a lot of other cool things) have just about convinced me that it'd be the best place for me to go to school -- and it sounds like I'm not the only one.

Don't forget two things about the question to Dean Kramer on whether Stanford aspired to be #1 in USNEWS:

1) This was the very first question asked during the Q&A.
2) Dean Kramer said that deciding where to go based on rankings a shitty way to decide. (Yes, he said shit to a room full of admits. It was a riot.)

I didn't go to the Q&A, but that is embarrassing.

The admit who asked it seemed quite pleased with himself.

For all our sakes I hope he doesn't come to Stanford.

A popular prof dropped the f-bomb during the first day of orientation to all the 1Ls. Hey, it's Stanford. ;)

Hmm...I have my guesses. Perhaps a rumored SCOTUS short list member?

Nope. The prof is less insanely accomplished and well-known than just popular among the students.

Would it have been a long-haired, earring-wearing male?

Nah, but I would expect it from that guy as well.
