Total bummer. Just got accepted to Texas today, now I learn that the ASD is on the same weekend as the Michigan ASW...for which I already booked plane tix.

Wish these schools didn't do them ALL on the same weekend! Duke's only ASD is on March 26th as well.

They make you choose....even before you've seen the school.

Haha I've heard about that. I'm currently a senior at UT so when I set my password four years ago, we could use words but had to have a special character, etc. No numbers from your birthday is lulzy.

The no words rule is actually like no 3 letters in a row.

I'm confirmed for the Doubletree on Thursday night, March 25. I think I confused the lady on the phone by mentioning UT Law ASD, but she ended up giving me a "UT corporate rate" of $107. (That $2 saved will buy me what, half a beer?)

i literally lol'd. this is exactly why i probably can't even login! lol.

thank you guys for posting that you reserved your room. i have updated the thread and i think i'll go ahead and give them a call today to see what the group rates look like for us (maybe they can re-adjust our price and make it cheaper!!)

UPDATE ON THE GROUP RATES: I talked to the director of sales over the phone (a really nice woman named Linda) and she said that we would need to book at least 10 rooms before discussion but that I'd have to sign a contract to be liable for the rooms. Bummer but it's still a nice price and a renovated hotel close to the law school!

and to existenz, it's a bummer we won't be able to meet you during asw but maybe you can come over and visit during one of UT's mini-days!

Two beers (domestic or imported) on Thursday night at the Aquarium on 6th.

Edit: Taylor beat me to it.

i went to the website for Austin's airport and found the runs for their Metro bus- i hope it helps!

--LinkRemoved--

also it looks like it would take 20 minutes to get from the airport to the law school per Yahoo map directions.

Awesome. Almost as cheap as a night out in Milwaukee can be.

The airport flyer is super easy to use and pretty fast FWIW!

As an Austin resident I'm down for meeting up/ going DT whenever

I'm in the same situation. I'm going to the ASW in Michigan and do the "mini visit day" at Texas on Apr 9th. They have another mini visit day on Apr 2nd.

Depends. Where are you staying? How much exploring do you want to do?

If you're staying downtown or near campus, I think you should cab it. Parking can be a real nuisance and can cost you about as much as sharing a cab.

staying at the Doubletree and am probably going downtown every night.

is public transit 24 hours?

renting will probably cost me ~$150+ gas for the 3 days

You might have to take cabs if you don't want to walk the ~11 blocks to downtown at night, but you can get around easily by bus during the day. Cabs def shouldn't run you as much as the car, esp. if you catch the airport bus to downtown.

i'll have my car, and we're staying at the same place, so if we all go out at the same time i wouldn't mind giving you a ride! spending $150+ on transportation would be too gross lol. from what i hear the bus system in Austin is really excellent as well.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
