Must be something like this. I mean, I got my tickets from Seattle for only $390 last year, and I only got them two weeks in advance (since UVA admitted me so late... grrrr...)hopefulundergrad wrote:Where the hell are you coming from? I recall being able to save over $100 by flying in on Wednesday instead of Thursday. Sure, half of it was lost from the need for an extra night at a motel, but it was still a nice savings, plus I had an extra day to check out Charlottesville.

Oh, okay. I assume CHO is probably a tiny airport but I'm flying out of a secondary city and it's like $230 for a flight that's direct there and has one stop on the way back.maggiebre wrote:It's over $900 if you want a direct flight from Philly... No nonstop flights to CHO from my city. I did, however, find a direct/nonstop flight to Richmond and it was much cheaper.
Here's to hoping my GPS does not fail me.

ASWs are going to make me broke before law school. D: I'm flying in from a remote part of the world called Vancouver. I may have to take a greyhound to Seattle and then fly from there.

Are you guys planning on staying until Sunday? I originally wanted to go Thursday night through late Saturday so I could spend sat during the day looking around Charlotesville, but the latest flight home leaves at noon so I guess I'd have to stay until Sunday. Would spending 3 nights with a host be overstaying my welcome?

I'm probably going to be driving (seven god forsaken hours)to the ASW now as my parents have canceled my credit card. But that's another matter. It might end up better since I can get there as early as I want on Thursday and I get to spend more time there on Saturday exploring Charlottesville solo.

Yeah. It'll probably only cost $175 for gas and food both ways so I should net $75.YCrevolution wrote: I came out with a net gain last year.

Re: UVA ASWs 2010
Well I booked my ticket. Flying in thursday morning and will arrive about 10am at cho and leaving saturday morning at 6am. These were pretty much only times avaiable besides having huge layovers and/or flying out sunday night. Im planning on renting a car and it will prob be about $70. If anyone is planning on arrive and/or leaving the same time and want to split a rid for some of the cost instead of taxiing let me know. you will also make a afriend with a car which may be useful over the stay . PM me or post here and I'll check back.

Re: UVA ASWs 2010
I paid $166 for my ticket. Cant imagine it being much cheaper than that coming from the NE. Charlotte is closest. Flying to DC actualy costed more even. And my stopover is DC. bizarre.Sauer Grapes wrote:You guys should fly into Richmond. Much cheaper. Then rent a car or take the super shuttle.

Re: UVA ASWs 2010
Nonstop flights to hub airports sometimes cost more than one-stop flights through the same hub to a secondary airport. Likewise, you can often get SFO-IAD or LAX-IAD for $200 rt, but flying a few hundred miles from a secondary NE airport will cost $600. The wonders of airline pricing.ogman05 wrote:I paid $166 for my ticket. Cant imagine it being much cheaper than that coming from the NE. Charlotte is closest. Flying to DC actualy costed more even. I just looked at flights again and it's $60 cheaper for the March date from when I looked early last week.
Just a heads up. I went through Orbitz.
