Yea, it was strange since I didn't expect it through e-mail considering no one else was..I guess since its later in the game they switched? Also, where do you find the info about the admitted students reception in LA? Or, is through an invite by the admissions office?

They probably can't afford paper anymore... Budget cuts.

Probably, haha. Also, are we assuming that there is no more merit aid to go out?

Hi, Guys.
I have to say that the question about "the first name of the most recently confirmed U.S. Supreme Court Justice Justice" is a little bit hard for a Chinese student(Beijing).

Anyway, I wanna ask you about your mail information. I applied Hastings in Dec. with a 162/3.54. Several days ago they said they had sent my mail but because of an error in address, I didn't get it and asked them to resend, which means I have to wait another 10 days before I got some good or bad news. What is my chances to be one of Hastings? And if it turns to be a rejection, is there anyone with rejection by mail instead of other ways?

Thank you for your time. I am not good at English, and any help from you guys will be appreciated. :D

Denied today via snail mail. Totally confused given my LSAT and the fact that I've been accepted at and received scholarship money at higher schools.

Do you mind sharing your complete date/numbers? Maybe you were a YP :(

Complete towards the end of Jan. Splitter w/ 169 score. Keeping GPA to self but suffice it to say that people with much lower numbers (and not URM according to LSN) were accepted. Someone mentioned YP to me earlier but thought that would have come with a wait list not an outright reject. The second and third to last sentences in their letter left a bad taste as well. (Decision final, wont talk to you about any aspect of it)

Oh well, time to move on. Best of luck to all of you waiting!

Maybe your personal statement, LSAT writing section and/or resume?

Wouldn't be resume given my experience, PS got me into higher ranked schools so I'm assuming it was okay but I guess I could be wrong. LSAT writing could definitely be it as I was pretty tired at that point. I haven't gone back and looked at it for just that reason.

Wait, the LSAT writing section, they actually read those ....

I know from looking back on at least one of my LSAT writing sections, I spelled the plural of bus as busses. They'll never figure it out though, my handwriting is like chicken scratch.

Yes, I'm pretty sure they read those as they're disclosed along with your LSAT results. Not quite sure of their purpose. I've heard some crazy conspiracy theories about why they do require them...although I personally just think they're looking to compare your best writing sample (your perfectly polished PS) to your arguably worst writing sample (a mindlessly written piece of work following a 3 hour test that stands as the only obstacle to your freedom on test day).

and also to match the statement you write out at the begining of the test. they could use this to guarantee the person that started the test finished it and was not changed during the break

I went to an open house and the assistant dean stressed that the writing sample is important and that they always read it; in fact, she said its the first thing they look at. she said it lets them know how much help you really had with your personal statement

Eh. I don't know how good the comparison would be. The style of writing is different between the two. My PS is much more narrative in style and, well, personal. My writing sample is a bit drier and is crafted more as a short policy analysis.

Good to know, in any case.

lol, that is ridiculous. The difference in quality between an essay you had 35 minutes to write and one you have months to write is somehow indicative of how much help you received in writing the latter?

If that's true then I'm glad I was not accepted. That's absolutely ludicrous. For someone to actually compare the two in that manner shows how out of touch they truly are.

You have months to write your PS, making multiple drafts etc. On the exam you have just finished hours of intense time pressured testing and have 35 minutes to write on a specific topic in a confined space. Any person who feels the two should be similar is kidding themselves and is just looking for an excuse to disqualify people. That makes me feel somewhat better if that's true since it's clearly BS.

Anyhow, like I said, best of luck to the rest of you!
